Thanks Ron for answering my question...I never thought of the handle for turning the pump on/off. Forsome reason I envisioned that handle releasing some kind of drawer that had a filter trap inside one could clean after use. Thanks again!!/mark

Grandma's was roughly a 1951 and the drain was a hose with a valve on the sink end. Working the valve and the clutch handles was my job. Don't recall any water valves on the machine itself, believe it was controlled from the washtub faucets.
