Looking at most vintage and in some cases modern appliance auctions, more and more sellers are refusing to offer shipping.

Can understand not wanting the hassle of crating and packing a large and heavy appliance, but cannot see an objection to say having a freight company come and pick up the unit. If some one is worried about safety, a freight company would have better records of whom was sent to an address than some stranger showing up out of the blue from eBay. I'd rather have a UPS or Craters and Freighters guy in my house than a bunch of strange men I do not know.

Sad thing is so many otherwise great appliances will end up at the Krusher or on the curb, because local auction action didn't produce a sale. Have seen items relisted again and again, usually with the price down to a few bucks, but still no takers. Sellers don't realise it is not the price, but location that matters.

For the right selling price, I'd pay the $$$ freight shipping costs, especially for this unit.

For 10 shills, really hope someone takes the unit, would be a shame for it to go to the Krusher.

Pulsator, did you email the seller to ask about the agitator? Maybe he/she will send you a snap or two of the insides.

non-shipping

I think when people say "No Shipping", they mean that THEY won't arrange to ship it, not that the BUYER can't arrange for shipping. And one could always clarify that point before bidding.

Kenmore,

If only!

Won an auction for a nice little washer, contacted the seller and told him C&F would be coming to crate/pack and ship my item after paying. Well, suddenly seller "thought" the washer wasn't "right" for me and would I let him out of the sale so he could get back his FleaBay fees.

Oh well, live and learn.

Classic 'rude

I had a 1974 Evinrude 25hp on my 17" boat. Ran good, when it ran lol. Well, I did what I could but when I sold it, the man who bought it had it fixed by a guy who really knows those things and it purrs like a kitten now.

Did The Easy folks make a gas motored version of the spiralator-spinner washer?I asked since we drifted into gas motors and boat motors.Hope they didn't try to use that nice vintage Evinrude motor with that washer-We would have really BRISK agitation there! It seemed like those Easy washers were built in the era when You either had electricity or didn't.

boat motor and washer

Anyone remember the Green Acres episode where Fred Ziffel bought Doris a new washer from Mr. Haney? It was powered and agitated by a boat motor.......

Green Acres program

Will have to get out my GA shows and watch it.-Do you know the episode number or title? I remember as a teenager when my dad had a sailboat that had an aux motor sorta like the one in the Easy washer pictures-it was 15Hp I beleive.I remember untangling some rope that got caught in it!! Arrrggg-what a mess.Had to cut some of it to get it out of the prop.We were motoring along and it picked up a peice of rope in the water. The rope killed the motor.stopped it dead.

green acres.

don't remember which show....washer was barrel with outboard motor clamped on the side....one of Haney's moneymakers....you can imagine what happened when Doris did the wash.....

GA show

Thanx-will get out my set and see it.Sounds like the washer is a "test tank" for an outboard.-The water filled device the motor repair tech would use instead of a boat.If the motor wrapped up that peice of rope-imagine what it would do to clothes.-But--think of the immersion blender it would make-great for those 60Qt stockpots!!There is a company that makes a long shaft immersion blender-some cooks call them "outboard motors"Can't think of its name looked it up once before-they had some machines with a shaft close to a yard long and Titanium blades!

Green Acres

Ah, the famous "Grabwell Washer"! As I recall, it was a yellow plastic garbage can with an outboard motor clamped to the rim and a garden hose that hooked to the kitchen faucet. Poor Doris revved up the motor and the blasted thing chased her around the kitchen like a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Going to watch my GA shows and see if I can find the program with the "Grabwell Washer"-Sounds like you can ride it instead of washing clothes.Would imagine you would need to use the HE low suds detergent-that motor would really whip up the suds! The set I have doesn't go up to episode #59.It is the DVD set of season#1.
