I have an Eaton Viking 5 1988 Heavy Duty Electric Clothes Dryer, made by GE and it has been a very reliable, durable, workhorse.

Model ED407FT4119 CB5 serial 63125.....mfg by GE....(Moffat and Hotpoint was also mfg by GE)

To restring the drum belt:
Remove rear access panel through which you can then restring the belt.

Noisy dryer:
Front glides: This model dryer uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set.....Another alternative is inspect the glides and if they are still in good condition...clean the glides of any lint/residue and then apply an automotive silicone lubricant to the glides and see if this will eliminate the noise......I applied silicone one year ago to the original glides and the dryer has been operating just fine.

Humming Electric Motor/ Shaft not turning:
I found the bearings attached to the shaft had dried out....I gave the bearings a good soaking of Electric Motor Oil SAE20 (3-IN-ONE brand or sewing machine oil) as I rotated the shaft and this solved the seized shaft problem (important...do not allow oil to drop on motor windings)....this method also works on other electric motors where bearings and a shaft is used.

I have discovered the Eaton Viking 5 1988 Heavy Duty Electric Clothes Dryer model ED407FT4191 and the Eaton Viking 8 2-speed Heavy Duty washing machine approx age 1988 model EW407FT119 are the same as the GE Filter Flo appliances....

That's because they are. You dryer's timer dial cycles' look just about exactly as my 1978 BigLoad GE dryer except mine had extended tumble press care options after the two auto dry cycles.
