Michael, From what I know, American Family was around in the 50's can't remember for sure if it went into the 60's or not. My mom used the deterent not the flakes for many years. The American Family I remember had coupons on the back of the box worth so many points depending on the size of box you bought. You sent away for a catalog and you could get things when you saved enough points. Does yours have this on the back of the box?
