I sold a Kenmore Elite washer and dryer on EPay.The auction closed November 13.The out of town buyer made contact a few days later, and arranged a time to pick it up,a few days after. He never showed.Got an email the next day,he had problems, work, etc.Emailed me again, for a "definate" pickup Saturday, the 26.Never showed, never called, emailed, anything.

I emailed him back this morning,no response. How long should you hold out, before relisting? It's been 11 days now,and I really would like them to depart.....

Call him..........

File a non paying bidder alert. Then, get his phone number from eBay and give him a call to find out what is going on. If you do not get a hold of him, I would give him 48 hours to complete the transaction and if not, relist and get your fees back after the 7 day waiting period is up.

Sorry you had a deadbeat-they are not fun to deal with!

Cover your self by filing a NPB notice right away. eBay will get in touch with the seller and he/she has 7 days to get in contact with you or you can get your fees back/relist. Mistake some sellers make is waiting too long and then it is too late for filing.

Having on occasion been a bit late getting an eBay payment out for various reasons, but communication is the key. If the seller does not respond, they are either dead or a potential dead beat.

Other Side of the Coin

Good luck kenny - maybe Wednesday will be the magic day. I am facing the opposite situation right now. I bought an item on Ebay and paid for it through PayPal on October 2 and it has yet to show up. The shipping price even included Priority Mail. The seller claims that both she and her husband have had health problems and are behind in their shipping (no kidding). However, yesterday I filed a report with Ebay and will give the seller 48 hours to respond. If I hear nothing, I am going to request a refund through PayPal.

Beware PayPal will not always get a you a full refund, in most cases only partial. Had better luck filing a complaint with my credit card company and they refuned the money to my account. PayPal did contact me regarding the "charge back" I had initiated, but that was the end of it.

For the seller either a charge back via credit card or refund from PayPal for undelivered/damaged merchandise is a very black mark indeed. In fact it can lead to a PayPal account being frozen or even closed, so most sellers who value their eBay business know to get on the stick when PayPal gets involved.

nice to know

Its nie to know im not the only one having problems with people on fleebay. I bought a phono cartridge and payed for it on the 17th of november. I sent the seller 2 emails thru ebay and havent got any responce. I finally sent the 3rd email directly to them without going thru ebay today. So now i'll give them a day or so to respond before having to go postal on them!

This is what I get for being cheap! I should have bought it directly from the company.

It's a draw...

More often than not though, I think eBay is pretty good.

Just recently I had to wait a long time for a pair of salt and pepper shakers that I had ordered. I emailed the seller and it took the seller a few days to respond. Turns out she had a baby and that she just didn't get around to mailing them. She made sure they got to me through priority. Three days later, there they were.

Sometimes life happens. I know it's happened to my as a buyer. Luckily, I have good enough feedback that sellers are usually understanding.
