Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Rob,
If my memory serves me correctly the prewash is available only one the whites heavy soil 95ºC but I could be mistaken as I'm getting on a bit lol. I remember the economy does indeed reduce the water level and I believe the Z218T has three water levels but you will be able to confirm this or not later.

Enjoy your beautiful vintage Zanussi in good health.

David

Hi Guys

It looks like you can get a prewash on programmes B D and L 95 60 and 60.

I say this because of the the orange "a" "b". Im guessing this idicates which compartments to fill with powder in the drawer. "a" Being the prewash compartment "b" being main wash compartment. If you look "Special Treatments" (Conditioner rinse) has the letter "c" im guessing meaning the fabric conditioner department.

Hope that helps.

Mark

Congrats

Rob that is a really classy machine. I was watching it but alas no room at the mo so well done for winning it. Look forward to vids soon.

Steve

Aquarius1984, you seriously need to think about your attitude on here. If you continue to whine on here like the way you have since you were first a member, then I feel inclined to tell you that, you will soon end up with nobody liking you here.

I can tell you with no guilt whatsoever, that since you started posting rude, arrogant and mean things on here, ive not liked you. Im sure that wont make a difference to you or affect you in anyway.
But just watch this space..... Carry on the way you are, and you'll end up with everyone hating you!

P.S RobM, congrats on winning the Zanussi it looks in really good shape. Cant wait for vids :-D

Hi, RobM! :)

What a lovely machine! :)

My late maternal grandmother had one from 1980 or so, and I distinctly remember the lovely dial and the button. :) A machine like this is the only other washing machine I remember from my childhood apart from our Hotpoint Microtronic L.E. :)

I am so looking forward to seeing this in operation, Rob – they had a lovely sound to them! :) My grandmother’s machine went on from circa 1980 to 1992 – and I picked the replacement, which was, naturally, a Zanussi Jetsystem. That carried well on after she died in 2000 – and it may even still be going, but I will have to ask my cousin that, who took on the machine after my grandmother died.

I remember this machine running, and it was incredibly quiet and had a lovely sound to it. :) I also seem to remember it being able to spin at maximum speed, or thereabouts, from a standing start. Am I correct, or am I dreaming? hehe :) On my Nan’s, I don’t think the spin speed was particularly high, but it would suddenly – and very calmly, without jumping – start to spin.

I even have some documentation for the older Zanussi in one of the drawers. I took all of the paperwork from my grandmother’s home after she died, which included some Kenwood Chef papers, too – a price list from 1978! But, anyway, I have some Zanussi bits here and will try to get them out very soon. :)

Nan often kept her paperwork, and I would go through it every so often when she was alive, so I know she bought her older Zanussi in 1980 because I saw the receipt! :) It was purchased from Rumbelows, I believe – her sister-in-law worked there and also still does work in electrical retail to this day but in a small, independent shop! :)

Anyway, very nice to see this machine. :)

All the best,

Carl :)

I know it’s only been a few minutes since I wrote that message, but RobM, I… I… can’t wait any longer for the videos! Hurry *up*! ;) hehe :)

And, Dan, hello! :) *Waves at Dan* :) I would say something funny right now, but I’m not very funny at the moment because my ‘fuzzy funny logic’ (fuzzy logic! hehe :)) is broken and needs a repair! hehe :) Because I’m BER (beyond economic repair), I’m afraid you’re stuck with me like this for a few months, but I should bed in quite well over time and work reasonably well! LOL :)

Did that make any sense?! ;) No? Good! hehe :) See you around, mate – hope you’re doing OK! :)

I’ll stop talking gibberish now for everyone’s sake! hehe :)

And hi to everyone else, too – sorry I’ve not been particularly active lately. :) Seeing this machine has brought back some memories, so I’m camping out right here to see when RobM puts his videos up! :)

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – have fun and look after everyone! :)

Take care. :)

Regards,

Carl :)

PS I’m still waaaaaaaiting! hehe :) Look, RobM, I know it’s the early hours, but… c’mon! hehe :)

Hi Carl, lovely to hear from you, hope you are not feeling too unwell. Dan, also thanks for your comments, you have email.

Everything you say is true this machine really does have lovely sounds. I made a film but it was no good. I've got a friend staying but when he leaves tomorrow I am going to make movies. May take a few days to get online though, but should be well before xmas. I want to be sure the quality can be the best it can be. In the meantime here are some more pics.

Rob

PS I left facebook because I was frustrated with it and my work blocked certain things so it hardly worked. So you may see one less friend on your profile/s.

Above is the label, not very clear I'm afraid. Can anyone tell the year? I can see a 01 in the top right hand corner.

Below is the drum.

One for Diomede, here are the hoses, all original I believe and in good order. Note the large induction motor.

This came from someone's grandmother. I don't think it's been hardly used (my nan still preferred to wash by hand). It really is in good condition.

finally a pic from the top. This machine has 4 strong support springs and 2 large concrete blocks, one around the front and one on the top.

PS The door interlock is now working, just needed slight adjustment.

One for Diomede, here are the hoses,

Thank you VERY VERY much Robert! It really seems like my old 1981's FL Sangiorgio...

Mine's got instead only cold-fill hose and the relative valve, but onto the cabinet near it there's the "HOT" label impressed...

It was just looking the rear side of this WM I understood that all are manufatured (this was in truth more common in past) to be hot-cold fill but only UK, Ireland, and some other Northern Europe and of course USA are the "predilected" to be provided with this feature while here...COLD-FILL ONLY!

I heard somewhere that Zanussi (here it'll be branded Rex) is coming out in January with a WM called "SUNNY", specialy designed for Italian market with the hot filling possibility again (endly after almost fourty years!!!) according with the new actual governement enviroment-friendly politic aid so that people could take the advantages of installing solar board with the conseguence of being able to use the accumulated hot (FREE!!!) water!

Thanks again
Diomede

BTW...

Could you please let me know how this machine manages the two valve...I'd like (if it's possible) to "modify" mine in order to add the second hot valve but honestly here many intendors are saying several and very different solutions to be applied...

Looking the interior of this it would be easier thant they say (using relè and some other electric tricks)

PS: Once when I was speaking with a technician he said me that it's not enoough to add the valve but it's the timer to be different in managing two valves instead of one valve only!

RobM

Interesting photos, thanks.

I find it peculiar that the Italian machines use a mechanical arrangement of linkages from the timer, to switch water flow to the various dispenser compartments. Candy does/did this too.

I was always used to Hoover's more elegant triple valve arrangement that relied on the timer directly energising the discrete valves.
