Edicraft automatic toaster

I'm hoping that someone can help me. I just added an Edicraft Automatic Toaster to my collection and am not sure how it is supposed to work. It cycles and opens up but the power will not shut off. Is this normal?? Does anyone else have one that they can share some info with me?

This is an extremley rare toaster, in my 1995 toaster book its values at $500.00, the original cord should have a click on and off switch to turn off elements, The design was to keep toast warm after it "opens like a Morning Glory"
I collect toasters and have one of the edicraft,

Hi Kim,

Thank you for the information. I didn't realize that it was supposed to have an in-line switch. I'm sure that you know that the Edicraft line includes a waffle iron as well as the Vaculator coffee maker! The Vaculator is realy cool

I'm new on this list so it's nice to see someone who collects toasters and coffee pots. I have a feeling there are a lot more like us on this great list of people!!
