Hello to all, I am wondering if it would be safe to wash a egg crate mattress cover in a residential front load washer. I have a Kenmore Elite washer and dryer. The egg crate cover itself will fit but I am wondering about the weight after the washer starts. The washer has a bulky cycle and a comforter cycle. I am wanting to wash and clean before storing. We recently transfored my daughter from a standered bed back to a water bed for medical purposes.

I don't want to go to the laundromat except as a last resort. The amount of Covid-19 is starting to spike up in our area and don't want to bring anything home. As some of you know I have 2 special needs kids which are medically challenged.

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

I almost had that happen when I washed my old Velux flocked nylon blanket in my Westinghouse FL. The glue that held it together gave up after decades and all kind of bits and chunks were floating around. I think I had to hoist it out and into a trash can then remove the Lint Ejector and that plate over the sump and clear the stuff before the washer would drain and I had to drain it into a bucket so that the foam would not clog the pipes.

Thank you

Thank you for all of your thoughts and or ideas. I have washed once before but at a laundromat with a 40 pound washer and it held together. The egg crate looks like new I just want to put it away clean and sterilized. I may just take to laundromat again.
