Electrasol is gone in my area

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Economics Laboratories-

Were the original owners of Electrosol,Finish and Jet Dry.They had all the rcomending manufacturers listed on the narrow side of each box.In all the restaurants I worked, they were the sole providers of dishwasher detergent and had dispensers set up for up to a month's worth of Electrosol and Jet Dry

The oonly times I used Cascade-

It completely ruined my clear glass dishes leaving a film and never came off. I hate Proctor and Gamble's dishwasher detergents and will never again use any of them. my water temp going in was 160F the unit(GE Potscrubber ll)would keep the washwater as hot as well as the final rinse water.Once I went with E'sol,I never had that issue again. I sware by it!!!

I was just at Wal-mart and saw that they changed the box appearance of their house brand. It says that it is now phosphate free... did they change the formula? Has anyone here tried it? I tried Electrasol (finish) and it left everything dirty... then I started using Great Value until I discovered Cascade Complete... I will never use anything else unless they change the formula! Awesome performance every time (though it's not cheap!).

Great Value Makeover

Wal-Mart is doing an "extreme makeover" on its Great Value products, to make them more distinctive on the shelves; the chain will also add new products under the Great Value banner. I've posted a link to the original story from Reuters below.
On the dishwasher detergent front, I bought a box of the new Finish Quantum w/Jet Dri Shine packets (bonus pack of 15 for $2.99 at my local Smith's (Kroger) store). It did a good job overall, but I noticed it made some suds--unlike my faithful GV powder. I'll continue to use the Finish packs, but I may not buy them again unless there's another sale.

I always used Cascade, been pleased with it over the years, then mom got me some Norwex stuff, and it did not do to well. Pans never got cleaned, and coffee cups still had coffee stain..

Figured tried Finish Powder, and everything comes out clean!

I was never that impressed with Electrosol powder or tabs. But part of that might have been the infamous MOL Frigidaire dishwasher (the one that failed to filter the wash water properly).

Since then I've been using Cascade "Advanced Power" from Costco... and it's pretty good. I like it better than the Kirkland version, which I see now is defunct, replaced by a phosphate free version. The Kirkland seemed to leave a bad odor in the Bosch. The Cascade not so much.

When we got our first dishwasher when i was a kid the GE repair man that got it for us said to use either Cascade or Electrasol we tried both but I was partial to Cascade because it had a better scent and did not spot and when I got a house of my own I have used Cascade until now and I tried Finsh Quantim so I buy which ever one is on sale but am using Cascade at the moment.

Powders........

I prefer powder to gel. Same goes for laundry detergent.

Right now I am using Seventh Generation Dish Powder, and I must say it is a great product. I was apprehensive considering it does not contain phosphates or chlorine.

I also have tried the Finish Gel Packs, and they do a great job as well.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how to fix the spring on the dispenser door on a Whirlpool (where the door is always open and you close it against a hair-pin type spring with a latch?

I've got a 7 or so year old WP where my partner closed the door on a detergent tab sideways and sprung the spring...I can't quite figure out how to put it back together. It doesn't spring open now, only opens a crack and the detergent tab doesn't fall out so it gets soft, nasty and doesn't dissolve.
