Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great Thankgiving. My parents received this electric knife as a gift many moons ago. I'm thinking late '60s because I remember my dad using it everytime we had a big dinner since I was a wee little one, and I'm in my late 40's. Anyway, it started acting up this past Thanksgiviing and quit half way through my dad carving up the turkey. He was going to throw it away and of course I said

Electric carving knife help

Ok don't know what happened but half of my message got cut off. anyway, I said "over my dead body"! This thing has been to hell and back and kept on working. I brought it home, took it apart and found that the brushes were just worn out.
The brushes are approx. 3/4" long, 3/16" tall and 3/16" wide. The brand is Penncrest (JC Penney) and the model number is 5976.
If anyone would have some ideas where I might be able to find brushes that would work I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
I hate to see this be chucked into the trash. I haven't been able to find one that will last like this one has. I have been through 4 of them since in the past 20 years and that seeing very little use.
Thanks!
Mark

Mark,

Maybe check out some of the thrift stores, or estate/tag sales in your area. I found a wonderful Sunbeam electric knife in harvest gold this past summer at an estate sale, so you know it's been around a while. It looks and works just like brand new.

this might be close - Carbon Brush 0.187

Thanks guys.....appreciate the help. it appears the size is pretty darn close and just might work. Thanks again!
Mark
