electric cookers

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Here dual fuels is probaby seen as a snob/yuppie option.

One thing I love abour Euro cookers:
You can get 3 gas burners and a hob, say, and/or an electric oven with a gas grille/broiler and it's nearly the same price as a single fuel-source model.

Here, any "dual-fuel" or combination of energy sources in one unit costs a small fortune. It's ridiculous, really! MSRP of $1,850 versus about $400 to $500 for a standard 30" (75 cm) wide pyrolytic self-cleaner. Ridiculous!

My partner and I saw an induction cooktop with the brand name of Diva. I got a good chuckle when I saw it. It was very nice...never cooked on one. When I was living in Omaha we had a Whirlpool picture frame ceramic cooktop. I did like it but there was a couple of close calls with things dropped on it.
Now since I have a gas Bosch range i am used to cooking with gas and i do prefer it to electric..yet i find even with a PowerBurner that electric is much faster at boiling a large pot of water and doesnt heat the kitchen as much.

There is a certain intensity about Germans

And the tip top of the intensity pyramid are the Switzerdeutch. Gad, nothing is ever as good as Switzerland to them. Nothing. Except maybe for Twinkies. Why? I'm glad to say I don't know!

But then what can we expect from a nation whose worst curse is "Top of the teakettle!"

well...

...Hans (Rapunzel), you are so right to say so about us... can't add anything else. My mate and I have always troubles with our own nation, as Roland lived for more than 10 years in many countries arround the globe and even I lived for two years in Spain and have been a bit arround the globe, too. The things you've mentioned above are especially typical for them folks arround here in Northrhine-Westphalia and particulary here in that part of it which is called the Bergische Land (area arround Wuppertal, Solingen, Remscheid, Leverkusen, etc.)!! I know, we have a tick since WW1 & WW2 but don't know if we haven't been like that even before that time...?!? lol
Weather isn't that bad here, Hans! It is nice to have all these different seasons throughout the year from green springtime to warm summers (becoming actually hotter and hotter nowadays) lovely autumns with colourful trees and grey and misty days, not to forget those white winters...
Well, we are (or better were, nowadays, to me...) really diligent and clean (not so much anymore today, I say...) which brought us up again after the collaps of WW2 but also we are a bit smart-alec sometimes...

Toggleswitch: "Yes....Totaler Scheiß!" would be correct, lol, because "der Scheiß" [Scheiss if you do not have an ß on your key-board] is male (...which isn't correct actually as Scheiße is femininum and not masculinum) and means something that you made not right (bullshit), whereas the shit "die Scheiße" (femininum) and means the real shit/crap/faeces...
We say: Das ist totaler Scheiß! (This is complete nonsense or bad stuff). [The male word!]
BUT [female word]: "sitzt in der Scheiße" (sits in the crap = is in trouble) or "hat totale Scheiße gemacht" (has made total bullshit) or "ist totale Scheiße" (is complete bullshit)
or "sagt so eine Scheiße" (tells such a shit = tells such lies)...rather complicate, isn't it so? lol

But back to the subject...

Electricity can be faster (coils or induction) but when it comes to energy consumption you should always keep in mind the following:
To get 1 kilowatthour of electricity from your socket it needs 3 kilowatthours primary energy in the plant to produce it! Will say: only a third comes out of the socket at least!
Heat is the most primitive form of energy in the univers whereas electicity is one of the highest and therefor should actually never be used for producing heat of any kind!

Concerning Scheiß, scheiß Baby! Is it worth talking about that stuff??...well ok...
They sing: Do not tell such a Scheiß! Don't blabber all that Scheiß, Baby! (Look above about the meaning!) It's about girls and there first lovers...the boys tell lies, the girls want truth...always the same story...kids-stuff...

About dual-fuel: they say that electric ovens are better to bake cakes but cooking is better with gas (all TV chefs do it like that, so folks need to have that, too!) but cannot prove that, as gas has more humidity in the oven and is much faster (no pre-heating necessary even with the grill!) in heating up the oven, it bakes very well to me!
Best to me is still solid-fuel ranges! Not the fastest but the most versatile at all! And even these are nowadays available with a ceramic plate!
I've had them all (electricity, gas, wood/coal) for years and can approve it!

To all of you a nice and calm holiday time!

Ralf
