Electric washer pump needed for non-washing machine related project

Can anyone answer my above question? There are a couple of dishwasher drain pumps about to end on ebay that I'd like to bid on if they are what I need.

nowhere near enough flow for the purpose you have in mind-a dishwasher wash pump might do the job,i have one i took from a countertop danby dishwasher that could be suitable-if i find it,i'll get details.Also i think some bosch dishwashers have a wash pump that has hose fittings.

Thanks for the reply. A couple of dishwasher diagrams I looked at did not show a separate drain pump, that is why I asked. I was afraid the pumps that were listed as drain pumps would be lower output and would not work. I need the main pump.

 

I think I'll make an offer on this Bosch pump on ebay - link below. It is new but has damage. OK, another stupid question: is the top opening the discharge or intake? I'm assuming discharge but I learned to never assume anything.

 

Here is a picture of the sparger box that I made today. I still need to drill the holes in the front for the valves, then I need to prime and paint it with acrylic enamel to seal the wood, then finally I need to run some silicone along all of the seams. The box is 32" X 24" in size. There will be 1" X 4" boards placed over the rows of nozzles, 1 1/2" holes will be drilled in the boards over the nozzle positions.

Hi Launderess, Thanks for the offer. I'd have to see a picture. Is it a washing machine or dishwasher pump? The water input and output on the Bosch are the style I need: I can fit hoses to them easily to route the water to the sparger assembly.

the top or center fitting in the pic of the bosch pump is the intake port.

many guys use the electrical drain pump off of a GE clothes washer......

mainly because of the volume and height that these can pump water compared to most others....

several applications have been for a laundry tub drain, where it would have to pump at a higher location, as well as move large amounts of water quickly....

if I am correct, they have a 1-1/2 inch inlet and a 1 inch outlet....probably what makes it so easy to attach to a drain port, and a regular drain hose...

Here is a youtube video by the author of the Homebuilt Winery book showing some of the equipment he has made. The rinser I'm building is the first item shown. The second item, the bottling machine, is set up on a multi-use frame that Mr. Hughes designed. This frame is also the basis for a fruit press and a barrel/fermenter hoist for lifting heavy items. The supports fold in making the frame 5" in depth for easy out-of-the-way storage when not in use.

Here is the nearly finished bottle sanitizer. All I have to do is hook the rubber hose from the dishwasher pump to the valve: cut the hose to length and tighten two hose clamps. I'm waiting overnight so the silicone sealing the intake can finish curing. If the rain blows over, I'll test it outside tomorrow and post a youtube video.
