I saw a commercial for the Electrolux line of appliances on TV tonight. I've never seen the Electrolux name prominently advertised. It was alway rebranded appliances in the past.

While the various appliances looked great there was an odd combination used to show them off -- Kelly Rippa and the THEME SONG from Bewitched!!!

I'm not quite sure of what to make of that. Don't know if someone here will be pleased...

Here is a link to the site:

Ugh, Feh, Ish

Yeah I saw that commercial last night on TV and heard the "fake" Bewitched theme song. I say fake because it was redone with modern electronics, ruined!

and if I may add...

not only did Electrolux continue the use of the should be retired Frigidaire name, but now to add to the Blasphemy they have the nerve to use the holy Bewitched theme music in their commercial. Is nothing sacred I tell ya! LoL

Robert...

Not only Frigidaire brand will be retired soon. Finally there will be Electrolux´s Affinity washers, Electrolux´s Gallery collection and 100% new top loaders...

Another big american brand will "marry" to Electrolux, the same way happened to Electrolux-AEG, Electrolux-Zanussi or Electrolux-Prosdocimo and in a few years this brand will dissapear and many people will be shocked.

I think that this commercial shows that they are definitely going to phase out Frigidaire. Why compete internally, unless they are going to make Frigidaire the crappy brand, and Electrolux the premier brand?

My late father absolutely despised Kelly Rippa. Couldn't stand her. I don't mind her, but I think she mugs a bit much. Who knows, maybe she'll become the next Betty Furness? Commercials are the perfect medium for her.

I sure do hope you guys are right, there is nothing more I would like than to see them retire the Frigidaire name once and for all. Frigidaire means GM and Dayton, OH, nothing else.

For a while, the Frigidaire website was literally dripping with Electrolux references, including a badge with the word Electrolux above the Frigidaire script logo. Even the copyright notice was attributed to Electrolux Home Products.

Now you have to poke and prod to find the Electrolux connection. Dropping the Frigidaire name would be a really bonehead move. People still hear "Electrolux" and think "vacuum cleaner."

As to the commercial's claim that the induction cooktop "boils water in 90 seconds," my countertop Max Burton induction cooktop does that, too . . . with a pint of water for hot cocoa. ;)

I agree totally. You couldn't have said it any better!

Kelly Rippa

She seems to be a very busy woman these days, with her being a spokesperson for Electrolux and Tide X2 liquid.

However, after going to www.tide.com and reading comments from some VERY DISGRUNTLED Tide X2 users (who would like to see the ORIGINAL version back), lets hope that they don't form a lynch mob and take Kelly hostage as a way to get the old Tide back on the shelves.

I too have seen the commercials...but when you see the appliances in person like I have at Lowes they are quite nice. The wall oven and range are a tad pricey...they want $2400 for the gas range. The oven controls are like something from Star Trek TNG. touch an area on the panel and all the features come to life. The racks glide in and out on ball bearing rails. And the color of the oven liner is cobalt blue. When I saw that and pulled them out I got all moist...doesnt take much. The dishwasher was interesting...since I have seen alot of people think that Maytag built it and sure it does look like it...But this has a stainless steel filter disc and a super fine filter arc...not like a Maytag.

I am not a fan of the lady,

however, there is only ONE "P" in her last name, at least according to imdb.com and wikipedia.org. :) *****

I saw the Electrolux gas range at Best Buy, and I do love the cobalt blue oven, and the ball bearing racks. the 2,400 price.....

****People misspell my last name all the time, and it gets a bit irritating!

Dear Kelly RIPA,

MaytagBEAR is standing behind me with a baseball bat, threatening to do damage if I don't send this to you.

Please forgive me for misspelling your last name. It was an honest mistake. I'm sorry.

Somewhat of a fan in Springfield, MO

Bill ;)

Baseball bat????

Noooooooooooo!

Maybe something shaped like a baseball bat, but rather lighter and shorter, though!

Incidentally, I meant my real life last name. :)

I was under the impression that...

Electrolux is going to be Frigidaire's top of the line or premier brand. It is blatently obvious that Electrolux/ Frigidaire is going after the high income consumer (ex:LG ). I would be very surprised if Electrolux retired the Frigidaire name. I don't think that would make good business sense. Frigidaire still puts out a fairly decent, affordable product like the Affinity front load machines and their refrigerators.
Granted, Frigidaire of today cannot hold a candle to GM's Frigidaire, but it's a decent product regardless.

Frigidaire

Sudsshane, well said.I know I am in the minority in that I really like Frigidaire's current line.Bought all new Frigidaire Professional Series last year and am delighted.Get with an independent dealer and it is amazing how good the prices can be.Wish I had bought their laundry products too instead of the POS SQ FL I ended up with.

Retire the Frigidaire name???!

NEVER!!
That's easy for some of you to say and Mr. Robert, you have every Frigidaire every made practically, you can just go to your basement and play with them. Frigidaire isn't what it used to be, that's for darn sure. But I still LOVE being able to go to the store and buy a 'Frigidaire' appliance! How sad it will be when, the day comes, that I won't be able to walk into Best Buy and run my fingers over the Frigidaire letters on a washer...Some of us just aren't ready to let go of the most amazing, stylish and awesome appliance maker, ever!
Robert, if you'd care to part with a few of your Frigidaire's I might change my tune! lol!
Kelly who?? And why is she trying to rip off Samantha Stevens anyway?

Kelly Ripped Ya

Can't stand that woman or Regis either!! Would love to be with her husband, however.

Sorry boys.

Electrolux are kinda doing that in Europe too.

In Ireland and the UK they've now got several layers of brands.

"Tricity-Bendix" (Budget regional to UK/Ireland only)
"Zanussi-Electrolux" - Mainstream Mid level (Europe wide) - Represents good value, but with a decent level of quality.
"Electrolux" - Mid to High (Europe wide)
"AEG-Electrolux" - High Level (Europe wide)

They haven't as yet dumped any of the brands they acquired, just suffixed the major ones with Electrolux.

It'll be interesting to see how they work out their branding strategy.
Zanussi is a very long established brand and AEG is pretty much iconic.

You're already starting to see a situation where you get a washer, dryer or other appliance where the basic design carries through the brands.

Tricity Bendix version - simple controls, no fancy stuff - plain white only.
Zanussi - more sophisiticated controls, slightly fancier.
Electrolux - loads of extra bells and whistles, drum lights, nicer designs - looks a lot more plush.
AEG - high end designer finish with all the bells and whistles.

Cupcake Commercial

Love the commercial. Love the condo. Where does Kelly's friend live?

Hmmm... they seem to have covered several demographics groups with that spot and the not so subtle theme of "cupcake queen" with all those adonis type men...

The new Frigidaire sucks

At least their dishwashers do.
For this reason I would see E-lux wanting to distance itself from the name, or putting it in the new build/rental market strickly low end.

When I moved into my new house last July, the Frigid dishwasher lasted about three weeks until I pulled it out, and bannished it to the garage. What a piece of crap. When I take dishes out of the "dishwasher" that are dirtier than when I put them in, and still cold by the way. OUT!!! OUT!!

If anyone wants a white POS your are welcome to it. I just didn't have the heart to wish it upon the poor people of Habitat homes.

I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator last year, and it only has a marking on the compressor indicating it's an Electrolux product. The fridge looks like an old WCI design, except for the fact that it has a more efficient Electrolux compressor in it to make it energy-star compliant.

Over the winter, I found an old sXs GM Frigidaire fridge sitting by the curb waiting on the trashman. It had a bad compressor, so I raided it, and took all the logos off, and applied them to my Electrolux-Frigidaire. Even though it's fake, it's cool seeing the big block frigidaire logo, and "Only by GM" on a new appliance!

I like the way you can click on an appliance and see it open.
When the rack rolls out on the dishwasher the cups look like rolls of toilet paper.
Can't stand Kelly

Iheartmaytag, why would Electrolux want to distance themselves from Frigidaire dishwashers when they designed and made them? They made the quality decisions and put the name of their choice on it.

Got to say as an appliance affectionado I was kind of excited to see some of the features of the product line. I'd like to have one of each. To me they seem to have a "coolness" factor. I'm going to have to go and explore local retailers and get a feel for these products.
