Electrolux Compact Washer and Dryer

Well we are soon to be owners of these baby behemoths. If any of you read my other threads, we recently purchased and replaced a set of the new electronic Speed Queens with the Kenmore Bravos XL clones. The Kenmores are great and we relegated our Maxima XLs to the basement. Our newest issue was we didn't have room in the finished basement to vent the Maytag dryer. So, I went to our local appliance place who had the EL's on display and decided that rather than tear out drywall, studs, etc. that we would donate the Maximas to a needy organization and today I bought the compacts for our second set. I cannot say too much about them as we don't get them for about a week since the plumber needed time to finish the pex for the hot and cold water lines. I'll drop and update and more photos once they arrive.

Nice looking compacts. They remind me of the older Philco of Italy sets under numerous names like Magic Chef, Norge, Admiral, and Philco. If they are made like the previously mentioned btands, they're washers were great but the dryers,especially the ventless condenser models ,were problematic. However, I owned a few sets for about ten years and they were workhorses. Quiet,compact, high speed spins, and identical twin design. If I had my way with Electrolux,I'd reintroduce the slanted front Laundromat design. The open down Weigh to Save inverted glass window and interior drum light. That makes installation easier then having to reverse the door opening. It would also stand out in design and make your laundry center a bit more stunning to look at. Maybe , if we write a petition and get thousandsof signatures,they'll consider it????

Please keep us posted. I've been looking at these and wondering. I'm sure they still have an aluminum spider in them. My Asko's still going strong but who knows for how long at 18 years already. I'd love to have a new Asko but they are all electronic now and mine is all mechanical...seems like they started having more trouble when they went electronic. So I'm just looking around and watching people's experiences so I'll be ready when the time comes. Have to get a compact like these due to space constraints.

We had a set of Bosch in our rental a few years ago and just from the Euro front loaders aspect the EL's seem to be better built and more solid than the Bosch. I think the Bosch were rebranded Siemens. I tried to find other compacts locally to compare but the only thing I found was an LG and a Miele.

Well, not exactly. Both Bosch and Siemens appliances are manufactured by the BSH group. But now Siemens is selling it's shares in this company Siemens will most likely be rebranded Bosch appliances.

OK thanks for the clarification. I just knew when I looked through the guide there were multiple mentions of Siemens Corp. A replacement part was once shipped from a Siemens warehouse as well. Makes sense now.

They're planning to continue to licence the use of Siemens' name for the foreseeable future.

Siemens appliances are too recognisable to just drop the brand, Bosch purchased the shares on the basis they could continue to use the name.

From a consumer point of view, nothing will change.
