I've got a late 50's vintage Electrolux tank with the traditional style braided fiberglass hose. The interior lining of the hose, which I imagine is rubber, is falling apart and blocking the passage of hose. I'm not getting any vacuum at the other end.

Looks like I'm gonna need to buy a new hose for this vac. I sure don't want to get a plastic bojack hose for this vacuum. I really like the old fiberglass braid (the exterior is in great shape) It needs to have the power cord pigtails at either end too.

I have that same one, with a perfect hose. I don't know where any more are right now, but I will grab one if i see it.

Eureka!

Erm, can I say that in an Electrolux thread?

The one my Grandmother had was a late Model F. Unfortunately, we got rid of it when we moved 3 years ago. Didn't see the need for a canister vac.

Now, of course, I'm sorry.

Here's a question for you Lux gurus out there: the dusting brush on the F had these two wings that folded out. What the heck were they for? I could never figure it out.

When I was a kid, I had an Electrolux bank. Think it only took quarters, and opened when you saved 10 bucks. It was blue and had the hose and wands and everything. Would love to have that again.

I do still have one Lux memento, a little turquoise ceramic model. It's not a bank--too small--just a tchotchke shaped like a vacuum cleaner.

Hey all,
a few years ago (~15), there was a generic braided Electrolux hose made that came is some close to the original colors. Does anyone know if they still exist and could be bought?

Lux hoses

Greetings;
The "bojack" braided Lux hoses are still available thru vac suppliers, Hesco, etc. I think tan and blue are still available. Not very expensive either.
Still better than the plastic hoses.
Hope this helps.

Take good care:
Al :D

Thanks, Maytagluver! They did not seem to hold up as long as a genuine Elctlx hose, but I agree they are better than plastic. Yuk!
