Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone had any information or knew the dates of this machine ? It is an early Electrolux Twin Tub. I have had someone contact me saying that they have one, but it will be quite a journey.
Cheers
Keith

Huh...wonder if it was 1941/2 (given that the date on the mixer was 1940) and Sweden wasn't involved in WW2 or if it was 1945/6 immediately post-war. I always was curious about "the home front" for the neutral countries in WW2--were the domestic manufacturers "conscripted" to export to earn hard currency, or were they relatively self-contained and un-rationed within the country. Sweden and Switzerland obviously had heavy manufacturing and technology that Portugal/Ireland didn't...believe I'd heard that the Swedish bearing manufacturers (SKF?) would sell to anyone with money during the war.

SKF

true about SKF selling bearings to allies and axis during ww2-critical bearings on ww2 Japanese engines were often SKF...About the only Swedish Electrolux I have seen in the US is the "Dometic"ammonia fridges for campers and small motors in saab and Volvo cars.

I just can't believe this machine still exists.

I saw one of those at the Electrolux headquarters in Sweden over 20 years ago.

I desperately wanted to put my hands on it and at least try it once, but they wouldn't let me take it out of the protective glass box.

It was one of the first Electrolux washers. There was also the washer version (without the dryer).

If I'm not mistaken, there are two options, one with an agitator and other with a small impeller.

Hi Thomas, it looks a very primitive twin tub, I will scan the next page of the booklet the lady sent me..it was a weird agitator - imagine the number 8 - stretch it at both ends and this is the shape of the agitator it goes from one side of the tub to the other. I presume it just turns overs.
The machine is near Stokholm (norrkeping)
Cheers Keith
