Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Detergent dispensers

Am I wrong or is it true that no Whirlpool TOL had a detergent dispenser the way TOL Lady Kenmores did. If so, was there some sort of contractual reason since Whirlpool made both? Or was the Whirlpool user supposed to use the agitator-mounted fabric softener dispenser for liquid detergent when using the Pre-wash cycle?

as far as belt drives.....

the most you could get out of a Whirlpool having a detergent dispenser, was if it had the Magic Mix Dispenser Brush Filter.....

I dont think any Whirlpool had a Pre-Wash only cycle(maybe the Electronic machines did)......their cycle was labeled as a SuperWash.....which filled for wash, agitated for 4 minutes, partial drain, 4 min partial soak, and then added water to top off and continue on into the Normal cycle...at the start you would add a double dose of detergent...

dont think we ever saw an 'extra rinse' option on Whirlpool or Kenmore...not until direct drives came out...

These WP electronic belt-drive models varied on behavior for Super Wash.  It can be used as a stand-alone prewash by selecting it (cold wash option) and Start without a Fabric cycle.  Or as a traditional Super Wash by selecting Super Wash first, then a Fabric cycle, options, and Start (no detergent dispenser so add a double-dose of detergent at the start).

The user guide for an early model says stand-alone selection stops after the partial drain, leaving the remaining water.  The user is advised to run a Spin Only to drain it, then run a full cycle of choice.  I suppose a full cycle could be run directly without draining first.

A later model runs a full drain and spin in stand-alone Super Wash/prewash mode.

A following direct-drive model has separate choices for both Super Wash and Prewash (and Soak).

Soak is only a stand-alone soak, drains & spins ... then the user runs the desired full cycle.

That’s a nice looking washer that appears to be in great shape. I’m going to go with “I would definitely snatch it up if it was closer to me.”

I'm going after it Monday!!!

I have been looking for one of these machines for what seems like forever. I let one of these that was only a few miles distant from me slip through my fingers about 15+ years ago. When this one came up, I just had to inquire about it. I'm going to go pick it up on Monday. I can't wait to get this beauty home. More later.

I'll also be able to see up close what is on the wall. LOL!

Well it's a no go on my dream machine.

Well I just spoke to the lady who was holding this, my dream machine for me. I had planned on making a trip to Evansville to pick this up, but today I found out it was located "in the basement." The first thing I asked was "Is there an exterior door to the outside so that it could be rolled out on a hand truck?" She said no, I'd have to bring it up a flight of stairs. So with my bad back there's really no way I could get it up and out of there. So with some sadness, this machine is going to slip through my fingers again. She has put it back up on marketplace. Maybe someone here will be able to hoist it out and give it a good home.

.
Where is this machine, on Mars? Grab a couple of guys from the 7-11 parking lot and pay them $20 to help. Or a neighbor kid, or whatever. And/or tilt off the cabinet and move it and the control panel separately. I’d hate to see this slip through your fingers.
