Electronic Speen Queen Boards

I knew I had never seen any control board made "here"...our labor is too expensive.
All come from China or Meh-HE-Co.

Also found it interesting that Whirpool supplies these, I thought I recognized that control panel from their commercial line...sure enough, no speed queen logo on the control itself.
So, its very easy to see that with the same innards, we can control any convential now with the similar control board.

At nearly 300, its a tough sell to me; however, a below poster has it right...competing in the market place for some flash,...and I am sure the gov regulations are easier to pass with these "smart" controls.

This is very interesting...

I searched the parts on repairclinic and its not only the board that Whirlpool supplies, but parts that even range from the agitator, all the way to the motor. And apperantly even the spider is made by Whirlpool. Drum? Whirlpool. Agitator and Motor? Whirlpool. Pump? Whirlpool. Even the commercial speed queen top load's overlay is made by Whirlpool. Seems as if majority of the parts are built/supplied by Whirlpool....odd.

That is actually normal...

Since the iteration of this speed queen had been around forever, Maytag had a say in some of the parts for their Maytag, Admiral, and Amana Lines...
When Whirlpool took over/merged with Maytag, the say-so went to whirlpool.

I am sure that all of these parts mentioned by both of us, are cheaper Made in Mexico, or China. shipped backed here...and our Union Labor Assembles them with the utmost care and precision...:_)

Weren't those leak-prone?

Board

The board pictured is mislabeled. That is the control board from the Amana electronic pair and not the Speed Queen. Actually, any similarity to a Speed Queen machine is because Whirlpool owns Amana.

It would be funny, if Whirlpool made the boards, knowing that one of Whirlpool's shortcomings is their electronic components. Especially, when Speed Queen boasts a five year warranty on theirs...

has mislabeled items before...I was looking up parts for my Jetclean once and it showed a GE pump with GE part number stating it was for all Maytag dishwashers since 1970something. I'm sure it wouldn't have fit my 97 nor any of the belt drive models.

SQ & Whirlpool.

There is a history here, and it gets complicated.

Years ago, Amana and Speed Queen had the same parent company (maybe Raytheon?). Speed Queen were geared towards the commercial market and Amana was geared toward the residential market. The Speed Queen top loading washer design and their dryer design were shared with Amana. Later on, Amana was bought by Maytag, but Maytag did not buy Speed Queen.

While under Maytag ownership, Amana washers and dryers continued to be built to the Speed Queen design. Some Maytag washers and dryers were built to this design as well. These are the Maytag Legacy Series. The washer model numbers start with SAV. There are some small differences between the Speed Queen and the Amana/Maytag appliances. I don't know all of the differences, but there are a few cases where Speed Queen and Amana/Maytag parts aren't interchangeable. For the most part, the Speed Queen appliances are better, while the Amana/Maytag washers are less well built, and sometimes pretty troublesome.

When Whirlpool bought out Maytag around 2006, production of the Amana/Maytag appliances using the Speed Queen designs halted.

The legacy of this is that there are a lot of washers and dryers out there by both Speed Queen and Amana/Maytag that can interchange a whole lot of parts. Whirlpool still supports many of the Amana/Maytag models, and many of these Whirlpool badged parts will work in Speed Queens. Similarly, many Speed Queen parts will fit these Amana/Maytags. Many parts distributors will substitute one brand for the other, depending on which one has a higher profit margin or which brand is in stock at the time. The appliance parts company I work for does this frequently, and around 99.999% customers are none the wiser and/or just don't care. For machines using parts designed after 2006, there is no interchangeability (meaning newer designs of machines, as well as part design revisions after 2006 to older models specific to Speed Queen or Amana/Maytag).

Bear in mind that there is no formal relationship between Whirlpool and Speed Queen.
