Multi x-in-1 tabs...

So how far has the "x-in-1" phenomena reached in the US? We're up to 5-in-1 here in the UK now... and I wouldn't be surprised if we see six anytime soon <br
How is the chlorine-vs-enzyme based dishwasher detergent situation in the US now? Are a lot still chlorine based versus enzyme based still? I think most if not all here in the UK are indeed enzyme-based <br
Also I noticed on Jamie's portable dishwasher thread that dishwasher powder is sold in boxes over there like washing powder would be. It surprised me as over here powder is sold in bottles, to prevent moisture from clumping the powder up I suppose <br
Jo <br
PS. apologies if my tongue was a bit too sharp. Tis all too easy to post before you think on the internet.

5-in-1? What are the five? What could possibly be the 6th <br
I wish they did put DW powder in bottles, as the humidity in cabinets under a sink tends to promote clumping <br
(note: DW in this post = "dishwasher", not "dear wife")

Peter - 5 in 1 tabs consist of Detergent, Rinse Aid, Salt Action, Glass Protector and Detergent Booster. I would imagine 6 in 1 tabs could contain a stainless steel shiner or perhaps a dishwasher cleaner, and maybe also magic little pixies which also unloads the dishwasher after the cycle is complete <br
Toggle - chocolate fudge please <br

HATE <br
For my dishwasher anyways...they cause way too much foam in my little 18-inch Kenmore with Portland soft water. I prefer the Cascade or Target powder with some plain old Jet Dry in the dispenser.

I am curious about these tabs. I have been wondering if I should buy the 3 in 1 Electrosol tabs at Costco when they go on sale. What would happen to the Jet Dry ball if the tab is dissolved and it falls into the hard food disposer in my Kenmore during the wash cycle? No rinse agent? I would hate having spots on my glasses after every cycle. I guess it wouldn't matter as I always have my rinse aid dispenser full.

Pixies to put away the dishes...

Now THAT I would buy! I have tried the tabs & gel packs before, but I like being able to vary the amount of detergent depending on the load. Also sometimes the tabs didn't dissolve completely in my old dishwasher.

Hate Cascade, except for the "made in France"-Complete tabs that have disappeared.... <br
Love the orange Electrasol Powerball tabs <br
Just bought a bottle of the Palmolive "Vinegar Fresh" gel today.

Re: I Use:

The Wal-Mart Great Value Powder Dishwasher Detergent, since I found it to be listed as a "Best-Buy" through Consumer Reports. I normally use the Jet-Dry Liquid, but I've been trying the Cascade Brand,I'm not really sure if I actually notice any difference between them at all <br
Peace and thank goodness for Automatic Dishwashers, Stev
SactoTeddyBear...

Oh lawd!

Would you look at that, you don't even have to spell "washer" or "Michigan" to join! Just a few keystrokes and clicks, and you're posting! Ahh, the wonders of modern technology <br
And there's something to be said about a forum that attracts everyone, even those pesky Gwisdalians...;-)

Electra-Sol Tablets----

I got a bunch of them as free samples. I've used them in the KitchenAid, and now with the Maytag, and they work just fine <br
Cascade works just fine
Big Lots brand at $1.99 for a 10# box works just fine too <br
I do miss Dishwasher All.

I always use ElectraSol powder in my Maytag, but I just bought the 3 in 1 tabs. They work pretty good, but I like some powder for the prewash. Once the tabs run out I'll go back to the powder.

In both my Westinghouse Impeller and Frigidaire Spray Tube dishwashers I have found that Electrasol Tabs do not wash anywhere near as well as Cascade with Dawn tabs. I really notice it with things like cottage cheese plates, the left over cottage cheese curds will be all over everything in the Imperller dishwasher with Electrasol, but with Cascade it seems to melt them and send them all down the drain.

Besides I just tried to write an E-Mail to him and his E-Mail Address is non-existant.Rolling my eyes once again Steve, besides why are you emailing people anyway, this is why some people don't want to put there real email address.

Jon, we used to have Finish DW detergent available over here, but no more. It was an old brand from the 1950s. Most of the powder DW detergents have had the chlorine removed although chlorine bleach is still available in most of the gels. Without the bleach, plastic tanks and plastic articles accumulate stains which can be removed by buying the new product sold with the rinse fluids and it will bleach the stains out of plastic articles.

I really dislike these new strongly scented detergents that leave an aroma in my plastic sports' bottles. The tea and water I put in them got a weird secondary flavor. I had to do some heavy bleaching to get that out of the plastic so now I make sure to buy baking soda scent or another non-flavored, detergent.

I don't know if one of the tablets would fit in an old D&M sideways pop-out detergent dispenser, but it might be interesting to try. Some of you might remember that as soon as the timer advanced into wash fill, the dispenser would fly open and scatter undissolved detergent on the wet items in the load, making distinctive marks on aluminum and causing slight damage to some flatware in the basket. I wonder if the cup would throw the tablet so hard that it could be heard hitting the inside of the tank or maybe an item in the lower rack or if the tablet would have to be wedged into the cup so tightly that it would not fly out.

Ditto Tom

Love the weird and wonderful scents one can give a dishwasher, but my son Luke wouldn't drink from his cup and my wife's sport bottles made water taste lile water with a hint of lemon. Quite nice in a perverse sort of way, but obviously not the ideal. Now use a detergent which has no perfume at all and am a little worried about what I'll do when they stop making it /change formula etc. I find if you keep your dishwasher clean, it's nice to get a really clean blast of hot when you open the door but with NO fragrance.

I just noticed an ad on tv the other evening touting Electrosols new gel paks. Must be in response to people prefering the gel paks not having that pesky wrapper you have to remove.

You cannot go by the IP address location. They don't seem to be always accurate. What exactly did the OP do wrong in the first place? Seems like a legitimate question to me.
