I haven't noticed an airflow issue with the Filtrete air filters. I use only the Ultra type, the ones that are rated at 1250. I believe they rate well for air flow... I'll have to dig up the Consumer Reports review on furnace/AC air filters, though.
My furnace system also has two intakes. The one closest to the furnace is a relatively small 10x20 filter. There's another one about 15 feet away that takes a 14x25 filter. The 10x20 loads up sooner than the 14x25, but I generally change both at the same time.
