Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Venus! I called you out for your Valentine's Day hug in another thread. Good to hear from you!

I may just have to go buy a can of Red Bull and find out what it's all about. I am a super-traditionalist when it comes to beverages. The only pop I'll drink is Coke. Coke with crushed ice and a slice of lemon. Yum.

my problem with red bull is the high sugar content. many folks think it helps provide energy to burn calories, but are in reality loading up on calories.

No need for sugar!

Hey Guys...I get the sugar free version of RB! Tastes great! Less filling! Helps me keep my girlish figure! ;-)

Off to paint.......(again)

Also any beverage with lots of sugar, or with any amount of alcohol, requires the body use up water to process it. The coldness quenches thirst temporarily because it gets interpreted as "cold water," but then you get thirstier as the stuff is digested. So you should increase your actual water intake when drinking those things, but do it carefully because it will also increase the effects of their other psychoactive components (and you could accidentally OD).

Another common form of geek fuel around here is Skittles candy, the little fruity things with the "s" on them. (Also useful at parties, to mix with M&Ms in a bowl, and then you can call the mix "S&Ms":-). I can eat a handful of those and woo-hoo, instant energy!

Dosage control is the key to avoiding blood-sugar crashes. Just eat (or drink) enough (candy, stimulant beverages, etc.) to perk you up a little, not put you in orbit.

When it comes to playing with your brain (and brains after all are fun to play with), the key is to learn to observe subtle changes, and work with them carefully. A little goes a long way.

I'll have some humble pie with that Tab!

Ok...Cory...I went out and bought a can of Tab Energy. Heck...it's pretty good! Kind of tastes like raspberry (even though Austin described it as "celery water"). It's not as tart as Red Bull and only has five calories!

I stand corrected as far as taste is concerned. Now, let's see what it can do for an energy boost!

Venus :-D

BEVERAGE

Hi Cory, my name is Peter...I am deaf and best friend.

Is that right about TAB "Energy" (red can) of diet soda or water (which is)? is that NEW?

-- Peter (kenmorepeter5a) ;-)

this reminded me of another cola that was sold here numerous years ago, not sure if it still is or not, called Jolt cola. Their slogan, all the sugar and twice the caffeine.

I saw a billboard the other day in town I thought was pretty good considering I don't think most of them are ever very good. It was for Seagrams vodka I think..

0 carbs O fat 66 calories, Who'd have thought it ?

Pete, I'm certainly no expert on energy drinks, but every one I've ever seen seems to always have Taurine as one of the magic ingredients. This Tab drink has Guarine, Ginseng, Caffeine, Guarana extract and a number of vitamins. At least those are the ingredients listed on the can.

Peter, It's a "Low Calorie Energy Drink", not a flavored water. In fact, it tastes sweet like a Jones cola. In fact, it could be bottled right along with Jones' Key Lime or Orange Cream, just stick a Raspberry label on the side. Very much like old fashioned sodapop. How it only has 5 calories is the intriguing part.

For those curious about caffeine ratings, check out the link- Note where original Tab is! -Cory

Information from the Dentist

My DDS & the hygienist informed me that "energy" drinks are quite harmful to the tooth enamel. Much moreso than regular carbonated beverages. Someones always raining on a parade somewhere! The suggestion was to drink or rinse with plain water afterwards.

Watch than enamel!

I also heard that things like Gatorade and Powerade were really bad for tooth enamel because of all the citric acid they contained. Austin used to consume mass quantites of Powerade. Needless to say, I don't buy them any more. I don't think the occasional energy drink is going to make all of our teeth rot out!

Venus :-)

Tried it today. It was pretty darn good! Not too sweet (a pet peeve of mine), with a nice raspberry flavor. ("Celery water"?? Austin, you crazy!)
Not sure how much energy it gave me, though. Drank it in the car, came home and changed the bed, did laundry, vacuumed, got dinner ready...then took a nap!
But TWO BUCKS A CAN?? That's insane.
Yeah, Pete, that taurine sounds, well, icky. But all that collagen in the cream you put on your pretty, pretty face comes from some rather unsavory stuff, too!
