Depending on it's age,the Splendid was originally identical to the Equator EZ1000,However, just like Equator,Aristan began making their machines and using the wrong diodes which in turn,caught on fire.

What about the Breeze made by Supra, 220 volt, new models listed on Ebay and distributed someplace in South Carolina? They have a parts and service number. I want to get the parts and service manuals to see what this is all about. They say it is made in Spain and Italy. Hope it is not part of the Equator disaster.

I hope all is well up in MD.The model you're showing IS made by the company that Equator just won a settlement with!The sort of triangular control design gives them away.They're identical to the faulty Equator,Haire,Aristen.Summit and Philci

Chuck, Thank you for the info. If The Breeeze is identical to all of the other brands, why is it the only 220 volt combo? If the lawsuit shut down the company that made all of these other brands, who is making the Supra now? The people selling them say that they are made in Spain and Italy. I do not doubt you, but wonder what the time line for all of this was. If all of this is settled with Equator owners, how long ago were the bad machines discontinued?.

How long was Equator made in Italy? When did it start to be made in China and India? Are the Equator machines the same as the ones from Italy but now with the correct diodes or was the design changed radically when manufacturing was moved from Italy to China and India?

Anyone feel the need for the Equator I picked up? It does what it's supposed to do, and does it very quietly. But it leaks water somewhere near the front. Come and get it this week, or next, and it's yours. After that, it goes to meet it's maker.....

New member here, and I just wanted some clarification on the Post# 235881 about the issues with Philco Italia products-I thought the Summit Washing Machine was a Gorenje product (from Slovenia)almost identical to the now-apparently-discontinued Danby. Or did Gorenje use some of these same faulty controls that also ended up in the Equator models? Or is there a relationship between the Gorenje and Philco companies? The reason I ask is that the Summit (& Danby) do not look similar to other European FL such as the Ariston, and the Gorenje products are one of the few 120v that heat to 200F.

If that's the 120 volt machine that heated to 200 degrees, did Gorenje manufacture that little pair sold at Home Depot a few years ago. I cannot recall the name, but the washer sounds the same. I have no idea of the reliability of the machines, nor do I even remember when HD stopped selling them. Maybe they stopped selling them when Maytag started marketing the small Samsung stack machines. I can tell you one thing about every small imported dryer we have ever tested. They are noisy compared with the Kenmore/WP 24 inch dryer that went over the portable washer.

I think you are referring to the Danby that HD sold for a seemingly short period of time. The Danby and Summit machines appear to be identical in pictures that I have seen (I have not seen a Summit machine in person), and seem to be the only 120v washers in US that heat water to 200F.

I contacted Summit directly and Steve Ross of Summit Marketing stated that "Yes our SPW1103 series washer and and SPDE1113 dryer are manufactured for us by Gorenje" (I was suprised to receive a response to my question).

My question now is: did Gorenje and Philco share the same electronic parts that made the Philcos have quality issues?
