Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

This was a good day for the sales, I didn't find anything like a rare Apex washer (or two) but I did bring home some fun goodies.

This is a Tri-Star (Compact) vacuum cleaner with power nozzle. It's nearly mint and needed only a quick shine-up. I've wanted one for a while now, it's surprising the power these little "piggies" have!

Greg that is one beautiful machine. What a fantastic find! IMHO the Compact-Tri-star floor tool is the very best!!

These are my other finds, a GE toaster oven - barely used and minty! The Norelco iron has never been unpacked and the Tupperware will be handy - the colors are a trip. The utensils are Cutco - some of the best I've ever used. Most of these are dups, but they make nice gifts when cleaned and polished.

Greg:

That 50th Anniversary model should date from 1990 or so. I'm here to tell you that that was one hell of a find- I've been wanting one of those for years, and can't shake one out of the trees to save my life.

Oh Greg!

Beautiful finds! That Tri-Star is absolutely MINT. Did you check the dates on that translucent Tupperware? I have some from my grandmother dated 1954 and I think there are a few older pieces. I love the orange, green and gold pieces. It takes me back to junior high.

Vita-Mix

Greg.... I can't believe I almost overlooked that Vita-Mix. Did you find that today? We may need to discuss a trade. As I told you, I have a new one, but would love to find a vintage machine in MINT condition. As you can see, that shopping list we discussed is growing quickly. Hmmm... Vita-Mix, Tri-Star, Electrolux G, Electrolux Silverado, Trimline phones of course... where oh where will I keep all this stuff??

Oh! I love the colors of those Tupperware bowls. I think those lids are called Astroflex. The only Tupperware lid that can't go in the freezer.

My SIL had the same iron, ofcourse labeled Philips overhere. The toaster oven is cute and the Tri-Star looks very space age like. Great finds!!

Greg, I take back the name I called you when you told me of your FANTASTIC find on that Tristar. Because of you, I went and got the other older Tri-Star this morning!!!
I also brought home an old Sylvania Superset that I don't need, but hey.. at $1.25 who could pass that up? My "hoarding" is in full gear!

Nice vacuum find. I can never find them in very good condition so always opt to walk on by. Yay for the GE toaster oven as well. The market has fallen on those recently from the record highs they were fetching but I keep a few handy in case there's a resurgance in demand LOL

I have the same colors of Tupperware in my cupboard, that stuff will last forever. I also have a few pieces that have the '54 pat. date, and it doesn't Tupperware, it says Tupper Seal.

congrats

What a great find... I'm so happy for you. A Tri-star is something that I haven't "collected" yet... yours looks to be in tip top shape and I wish you many years of happiness with it! The handles on those cooking utensils looks super comfortable to use!

finds

wonderful finds greg!!!!! good for you!!! now come back over to my house and re-pipe my basement for all of the washers and dryers that we are going to have!!!! LOL

love ya!!!!!

oHHH Fabulous finds greg, but that Tri-Star vacuum is way too cool!!!! I had no idea they made that Jet shape vacuum so late, and the tools are they really clear plastic? Very cool find! Congrats!

Holy Smoke!

Nice Tristar, and complete to boot! I am no expert on those, but I do know there were several models with the glitter tools.
Ms. Tania or Ida would know the details better!

My mom still has some of that colored tupperware stuff!

Hey Buff, can you advise on how to date tupperware? I'm pretty sure there is some early/mid 50's stuff over at my mom's. I know I've seen some lids that have the Tupperware seal depicted. Is there a market for this stuff?

Mandy, I've been lusting after a vacuum like that forever. I hope to find one in decent condition someday. Great find!

Ralph

We used to have the entire kitchen sealed in Tupperware - of those same colors I just found. Canisters, bowls, jars, pitchers, you name it. Those white/clear "Square Rounds" as they are named are great freezer containers - they hold almost exactly one pound of ground beef. I had some that I bought when my sister signed onto the "Tupperware Cult" as she called it, but they've since all evaporated or gone on to other homes never to return. I see boxes and boxes of Tupp stuff at the sales every week, usually it's pretty gooey and worn, but these pieces are in good shape. I should have the Cutco logo tattooed on one arm and the Corning Cornflower on the other ;-)

The Cutco utensils are just a few more of the ongoing hoarding instinct I've developed for Cutco cutlery products. The company began in 1949 and were a division of Wear-Ever. They make lots of different products, but all in the kitchen/knife/utensil category. They have a "Forever Guarantee" so when your knives get dull and the handles get worn, you mail them back to Cutco and they restore them for free - forever. I've found whole boxes at sales, taped up the blades and sent them back to the factory for sharpening and repair. When you open that box upon it's return to you, it's like christmas - all brand new again. The handles were designed by a man named Lamb and they used that in their advertising for many years, but I don't see much mention of it anymore. Like many high-end products, this cutlery is very expensive brand new - up to $2000 for a full set, but thrift stores and estate sales are the best bargain, a little more work mailing them in, etc. but the knives are amazing the that potato masher is one of the best ever.

I don't recollect ever hearing about Cutco.

I have an aversion to Tupperware, Gladware, anyWare. I'll admit I just cannot stand it. Dunno why, maybe since my mom never cared for it and so never used plastic storage containers. Now my other half is different. He loves plastic storage ware, usually the cheap stuff and wouldn't know a good piece of Tupperware from a knockoff. Lord I was drowing in mismatached lids, missing lids, warped and mishapen lids and bowls. One time I took it all and tossed it in the trash then they came out with Gladware and he's buying that.. I just toss em out.

For Greg- Cutco

Greg:

I'm amazed at the things that turn up in your area! I am in the Atlanta area, and Cutco stuff never never never turns up here. I've been looking for their stove-side tools here for fifteen years, and not a single piece.

Do you have any idea why your area seems to be such a trove of goodies? Atlanta is not great for thrifting anyway, but your average seems to be pretty damn good. If I had found a TriStar in that condition for $25, I'd have to take to my bed for a week, I'd be that floored!
