Check Rated Mixer

Consumer Reports check rated this mixer as the best buy back in 1956. Is the small mixing bowl graduated? How quiet is the motor compared to other models you guys have? Someone commented before that the "nibs" on the beaters are small and "shear off" easily during heavy mixing. It is an awesome find! You get the recipe/instruction book too? That could be a hint as to who manufactured the mixer too. I find it has many Westinghouse features too in its design. Hamilton Beach / Scovill bought out Westinghouse's small appliance division in the mid-1960s. They kept making the heating appliances and discontinued the motorized appliances.

Thanks, Mixguy!  We did not get the manual/recipe book... unfortunately.  I'm not sure of the noise-level.  It really is probably about the same as a Sunbeam MixMaster.  Maybe not as high of quality of a sound.

 

The bowl is not graduated.  We have a 1956 and 1957 Sears catalogue -- the '56 catalogue spoke of the small bowl being graduated - 1, 2, and 3 cups.  The '57 catalogue does not speak of that -- so I'm guessing it's from '57.  I was also looking for any indication (date) stamped anywhere in the motor compartment or on the motor itself... nada.

Love the Pyrex bowls. I have a couple of the greens ones, and had a large yellow one that I used to make potato salad in.

I have a couple of modern Lava lamps, I love them, they are so relaxing.
