I cheated and bought this one off Ebay which arrived today. It's not very vintage but it looked in such good shape and I liked the blue and white. Well it is in good shape with only the tiniest paint chip over the lens, that other big mark on the top of the cover is a "made in Canada" decal. Doesn't appear to have had much use. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheap plastic tube handle, the same one that's on my red Hot Shot

That looks like a upscale version of my mother's Eureka which was given to her as a gift for Christmas 1985. I still have it and it still works. If memory serves me, Eureka continued that style until '89, then they went to a plastic design.

Ben is such a handsome looking puppy dog

What a sweet animal you got there......I bet he runs to greet ya the minute you open your front door in the evenings. He looks like such loving, gentle, caring animal.

The blue base is actually plastic and the white hood is metal. The on/off button is on the back just above the handle release pedal, this one just has a simple push button without even the larger plastic "button" over top of it. It works well on the dog hair flattened into the carpet and has a that nice vibra groom from the brushroll.

Patrick, Ben just turned 3 y.o. this month, he's really not that little anymore I just refer to him that way still but boy what a time it's been bringing him up as compared to our other border collies. Wilful, stubborn and I suppose spoiled LOL but he's finally maturing now. I thought the day was never gonna come with him. Definitely they are not a recommend dog for most people.

im always surprised by the variations in Eureka models. for example, some of you may have see a Eureka (same model number 1458b) on ebay. sold by a collector, metal handle, wide bumper, and old-style tapestry bag. pete, would you consider changing the handle on your Eureka to metal? David
