Just for curiosity, what would be everyone's favourite general purpose cleaner, you know the one you would not be without.
Mine are:
1.Flash(which I am afraid I must do without as it is no longer available, blast it.)
2.Ajax powder cleaner(which I have returned to after my nasty experience with spray-on bathroom cleaner),funny how sometimes you go back to what you always used before.
3.Vinegar (how earth friendly can you get).
4.Bon-Ami powder(hands up if you remember it,come on now admit it.).
Cheers.
Steve.

household cleaners

I love FABULOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they make it in laveder scent and I fill my kitchen sink with scolding hot water and about a half cup of Fabuloso and in no time flat,it smells the entire house up!I also use Pinesol,Clorox bleach, and CeramaBrite.

mr. clean...

Original scent, love that fresh smell. I use it in my Hoover Floor-A-Matic on my kitchen floor.

Other products used:
Comet powder(bathtub and kitchen sink)
Lysol kitchen cleaner
Lysol bathroom wipes.

Bob - too funny! What's he wearing? And the scent?

I personally like Bob's plan, but when I have to do it myself, I love the old Top Job cleaners. I've found a couple of vintage bottles at sales and Venus sent me one of the last versions made that I'm using sparingly now.

For modern cleaning, Lysol cleaners are pretty good - but in the more "clean" scents, no flowers or candy scents for me.

Clorox Clean-Up does a great job on certain things as well, nice fresh scent and used full-strength has a mild bleaching action too.

i use Pine-O-Clean or Ajax Spray and Wipe, the mind numbing ads on the tv led me to believe that if i used the damn stuff that woman would shut the hell up, why can't australia have nice ads like "Mama keeps whites bright like the sunlight, mamas got the magical Clorox too", instead of Dame Edna blithering about.

Lessee. I use Mr. Clean in my Floor a Matic like Jeff. That's for when I do a good scrubbin'. Otherwise, It's Mr. Clean juice in my Clorox spray mop thingie.

Love Spic & Span liquid, and the powder as well. For daily (ha!) stuff, I use this spray cleaner that Safeway sells in their dollar aisle. Not sure what it's called, but you can dilute it a lot and it still gets all the crud off!

veg (who'd rather have a cleaning dude)

My faves are:
1. Original Pine-Sol. Love the way it deodorizes the air with that lingering fresh pine aroma!
2.Ajax cleanser with bleach.
3.Comet bathroom cleaner. Cuts through soap scum on shower tiles, ect. with a pleasant citrus scent.
4.Pine-Sol in "Rain Clean" scent. This has been replaced by "Sparkling Wave" which is similar. To date, the "Rain Clean" scent is the best smelling cleaner I've ever mopped a floor with. It smells super clean and fresh. I plan to give Fabuloso a try soon.

I love Method all purpose cleaner. In fact, just about any cleaner that Method makes I use.

I also love Kleen King for cleaning my sinks or bath tub.

My favorites are:

Clorox Clean-up
Lysol Cleaners in a clean scent, I agree with gansky1, (no flowers or candy scents).
Tilex (the bleaching one).
Tilex Soap scum remover.
Comet Cleanser
Bon Ami Cleanser
Cerama-Brite (for flat surface stoves).
Pine Sol
Dow Bathroom Cleaner
Clorox liquid bleach
Toilet Bowl Cleaner from (QVC) very good....
Windex
Glass Plus
Hope's Window Cleaner
Pledge, plus again a variety of furniture polishes from creams to paste wax.

As you can see I usea variety of products. I get tired of the scents and try different ones. But i seem to like the smell of bleach (LOL)

The original Top Job was both my Grams and my favorite but was discontinued. I found it is being manufactured again by another company (Hertiage Brands) and am ordering a case for us. Also Bar Keepers Friend cleanser is another favorite...will polish copper and other metals and remove rust and other stains. For disinfecting, my favorite is good old Clorox.

*My good friend Bon Ami!*

I go through a can of Bon Ami powder every two months or so.

I also use a lot of baking soda, as a water softener, and as an abrasive.

Off-label use of Cascade, too.

Commercial grade Spic-and-Span all-purpose cleaner/disinfectant/degreaser/window cleaner.

Murphy's Oil Soap

Soft Scrub

Clorox bleach

Now I just need to find the time to actually use them!!! :0

My favourite is MPD, an Aloe Vera based detergent that can be used for everything from windows to greasy ovens and everything in between, if mixed in the right concentration. There is no need to wear gloves/masks/put down paper etc. I swear by it and have used pretty much nothing else for the last 3 years. It is very economical and is the best car screen wash additive I have ever come across (it doesn't stink the car out either)

It is a natural antiseptic so is great for the bathroom and toilet and can be used after showers to prevent limescale build up.

While I have to use a special cleaner for tough jobs on my glass-top electric range, these two cleaners cover nearly every other task:

1. Industrial Disinfectant Cleaner (A yellow-colored concentrate sold by the gallon at Sam's Club)

2. Windex

Stick to the basics girls!

1-Ajax/Comet/ bon-ami cleansers
2-Brillo/S.O.S. steel-wool pads
3-Easy-off (lye oven-cleaner)
4-Lysol or Mr. Clean liquids for the floors
5-Ammonia, (lemon flavor, natch.)
6-Windex

and detergent/bleach/ (watery /BOL) softener for the washer detergent for the DW and smooth-top (stove-top)cream.

The Fabuloso is good but strong-scented to me. It goes right down the basement sink drains to make the pumps smell good- (they INCORRECTLY vent INTO the house).
