I am personally chuckling at all the stray fabric lying about.
I am thinking the urge to gather *nesting material* might be gender-related.

Curtains/ drapes
Area rugs
Sheets
Towels
Tons of old rags (Or what SHOULD be old rags)
Clothing /oufits that has/have not fit in decades.

WOW to never had an automatic.

My friends 90 some odd yr old grandmother uses a Maytag wringer in her basement. Never owned an automatic in her life i understand. Seems so weird.
