Quick Wash Cycle on Maytag mvwp575gw and TC5...
The newer model that replaced this older model Maytag machine would be mvwp586gw (I think).
This cycle (aka Normal Eco) is about 7 minutes long. It's a half tub fill for the wash and a spray rinse. Seven minutes is too short for a load of whites, and the wash action is too rough for delicates. The wash temp is warm when set to hot and cool when set to warm.
However, I find it very useful for office and everyday wear. I think the whole load took about 25 minutes versus a normal cycle with that takes about 45 to 50 minutes? I then used a spin dryer to remove excess water and finished drying the load on the lowest heat setting my dryer has for 20 minutes (fabrics come out soft and helps remove lint). In less than an hour, I had a load of wash done. It was also great for those few items.
I use mostly Tide powder, and surprisingly it works well in cooler temperatures. Rinses clean too. I think the spray rinse works well enough for the half load.
Using the least aggressive wash action (more of an option with the TC5), shortest wash time, cooler temps, and lower heat settings along with less dry that works for that load seems to make my fabrics especially elastics last longer. I use Lysol sanitizer instead of bleach whenever possible, which I think helps too.
The TC5 is similar and has more choice for the wash action regarding half loads. It even becomes a super cycle when heavy is chosen giving extended wash times to smaller loads.
While these washers' normal wash times are not "quick" in what this article refers too, they are two of the few washers that can use a wash action, enough water, etc. so the load can be done in less time. That along with the simpler controls is why I went back to a top load after having a front load.
