Many years ago, I did have an account but cancelled it under a different e/mail address I no longer use. I tried to set up a new account in the address I use now since every business now I would want to contact is only on there and no .com profile. Facebook says I am illegally duplicating an account that I closed and dont want that one and denied me setting up a new one. No way to find out why I am being denied. This is foolishness, is there any way to break thru their iron curtain?

DOWN With FB!

Count your goddamned blessings!

The entities you want to deal with should have a presence outside of a single platform if they are truly interested in providing customer service, and their overall business acumen is questionable.  I would boycott them instead of navigating an evil rat's (AKA #47's favorite Ass-Kisser) maze.  Do they not realize that they have fallen into a trap that only adds to the obscene wealth of a single, despicable, self-serving individual who prioritizes his own subversive priorities over anything and anyone else (except maybe for the almighty repeat Felon-In-Chief)?  Advise them that you're unable to do business with them due to their (insane) decision to operate in a silo.

If it makes you feel better

This is nearly all social media today outside of AW.org.

In an effort to curb spam, misinformation, cyber bullying, illegal solicitation, appease litigation, feel good (and only feel good) government laws and a myriad of other behaviors deemed inappropriate; sites are now run by an ocean of half baked AI algorithms which produce just as many false positives as they do false negatives. There is a social scoring system where names, IP addresses, accounts, pictures and user patterns are assigned a probabilistic validity value, flagged, or associated with one another user without the general public having any knowledge of or ability to consent. In other words legitimate members are routinely shadow banned, filtered, moderated with bias, denied new accounts, flagged or banned altogether while bot accounts devoted from everything to advancing terrorism to running a human trafficking business are allowed to enjoy unrestricted unmoderated access.

CEOs with ulterior motives & hidden objectives, failed litigation and the fact radical behaviorism can not and will not ever create remotely reliable AI have all lead to this merde sandwich.

My advice would be to make a new Email with a non Google / non Apple account like proton.me or Tuta, and use a nickname with a profile picture taken in the sun or a different lighting than your old Facebook account. VPN might help. Yes, you're trying to fool AI akin to a none sentient private investigator with HUMINT type tools. No guarantee it will work but its worth a try.

Is it or is there a or the vintage washer/dryer/laundry equipment page there similar to this one?

Have to somewhat agree with the above that maybe it's not worth worrying about access to it, but there must be some way to take it up with someone in charge of the social network site in general...

I liked going to it on my iPad as well as a number of other websites online, but now it's connectable either on my big computer or my phone...

I even got a new iPad which so far has been sitting around collecting dust, needing to be charged until I learn how to connect it with my network server...

Of which is probably the case with my old one I'm using now only allowing me mostly to go to automaticwasher.org and little else as thoroughly or at all...

So why not try to find a way to perhaps create a new account via a new email creating a new profile somehow with it...

Good luck with what value you can retain, going there, given how tick tok is being done away with and I haven't gone to or heard much about MySpace in a long time, and some other network I forgot the name iof even quickly died out...

Makes me worry about other sudden epidemics maybe with Instagram which I have an account there too, though not as active as my Facebook or here...

In my area, shelters, rescue operations, and adoption centers all advertise on other platforms in addition to FB.  The Nextdoor site and other feeds regularly post pet listings and announcements for "overstock" events when all adoption fees are waived, etc.   I can't say I was surprised to learn that such a foolish choice was made by leadership at what is likely a publicly funded shelter.  Considering the stereotypical shelter worker/cat rescuer's profile, such a myopic perspective strikes me as spot-on.

Meta's CEO is bent on making FB the Amazon of social media.  Don't let him get away with it.  People should be abandoning FB instead of allowing themselves to be lured into it as their one-stop online portal.

While we’re on this discussion I’ve been wanting to ask what the heck is with all these ads on this website all the sudden? Ones that you are required to click the X on in order to navigate this page? It’s absolutely absurd. And I’m not sure about the rest of you I’d imagine a lot of you are logging in here via a computer I’m using my phone and all the sudden last week it’s loading the desktop version of this website on my device and will not switch back over to the mobile version and it does it on multiple different phones when visiting this page. It’s becoming more of a hassle than it needs to be

Yahoo permanently locked me out of my e-mail account that I've had for over 20 years.

Not because I forgot my password or anything. I hadn't signed for about a month and suddenly couldn't get into my account and my recovery email address was no longer accessible.

20+ years of email archives gone.

20+ years of email archives gone.

I would lose my shit if that happened! I have 2 yahoo accounts from the 90's.

I would lose my shit if that happened!

Yeah, I 'm still in state of disbelief.

Then I went to to use the e-mail account through my cable provider Optimum that I've also had for 20 years and find out they deleted it because I hadn't used it in a year or so and they don't offer new email accounts anymore!

So even had I updated my Yahoo recovery email using the Optimum address I would've still been screwed..
