Howdy,

I went to get a quote from u-create to ship some machines from Michigan to San Diego and they seem to have more than doubled since the last time I used them. Whos our current favorite for getting machines cross country?

Hope all is well in applianceville,
Steven

I use U-ship.  I can't say that you will always find a reasonable quote, but I often have.

The Maytag combo came to me from San Francisco to St. Louis for $325.

U-Ship

But things can be a crap shoot. Sometimes nothing but many high bidders, then out of the blue (and often with short notice) someone reasonable comes along. You have to normally act fast on the latter as it often is someone just leaving or going through the area where item is located on their way to your town.

Truth to tell all shipping from USPS/UPS/FedEx to various places like C&F, U-Ship, and U-Crate have gotten more expensive. You'd think with gas at all time low prices things would be cheaper.

Launderess, you always nail it, re: uShip

I had the McClary Easy shipped from Forida for 150, the 65 Lady K from Temple Texas for 300, both machines as add-ons, or opportune pick-ups-en route, to existing orders, and happened very quickly. BUT THEN when I tried to get a machine from a town in NY below Albany, a 5-6 hour drive, they wanted 350, fifty bucks more than the shipments from Florida and TEXAS, for Christ's sake.

I got to know a shipper named Karl from Tennessee who told that me he hates to deal with NY, even though a former native, because everything is so much more expensive here than anywhere else in the US, and that the weigh in stations are terribly picky, and they blah blah blah.

Anyone who wants Karl's services, email me and I'll send you his particulars. In fact, I'll call him tomorrow and ask him if he'll allow me to publish his particulars here at Aworg. He travels with a magnificent cat named Cujo, the name, a joke, because the cat is the sweetest guy around,

u-ship feedback

I just used uship.com for the first time with good success. $144 for Akron to Atlanta for 61 Frigidaire washer. Shipper was lonewolf0927 and used kid gloves. He runs up/down eastern states once a month. 67 all 5star feedback on him. New 24' enclosed trailer. It would have been a 10hr trip one way for me and I would have spent more on gas alone. A feature with uship is that you can request a quote from specific shippers thru the request system and the shipper can tell you his schedule and if he is coming near your intended route. Sorry to sound like I own stock in uship, but I don't. Just passing along a pleasant experience with this shipper.

Forgot to ask in my previous reply

BTW, anyone out there have or know where I can find a matcing(ish) dryer for my lonely washer above? Even a BOL would be fine. Sorry, not intending to hijack this thread.

A word about Uship.  I have used them a lot.  I save all the contact info of the guys I have liked.  When I want something now I start sending them emails.  Uship charges both parties a fee.  You'll get a better deal cutting them out.
