Since others have discussed their details, I figured I'd throw out mine for those who don't yet know ... which is mostly everyone.

My father was diagnosed recently with an abdominal aortic aneurysm and colon cancer. The aneurysm was repaired by stent on 3/1. He had colon surgery Tuesday morn. Pathology report not yet in, but his doctor doesn't (yet) expect any follow-up treatment will be needed. Both procedures went (thus far) without complications. Lots of discomfort last night, but he was getting a bit peppier already this afternoon.

Re: Thoughts:

Hi! Glenn, I'm glad that you did let us know about your Father's Surgeries and how he is doing. You are all in my thoughts and Prayers, that he gets stronger every day, as he is getting already.

Be good to yourself and make sure to not only visit with your Father, but be sure to get some Rest, be sure to Eat and keep thinking Positive, that he will be well again real soon.

Peace, Thoughts, Prayers and Hugs, Steve

Glen-----

Hoping your Father has a speedy recovery. An aneurysm in the lower aorta is a dangerous thing---yea for modern science---stents are great! Hoping the cancer is gone too.

Glad to hear you are with your Dad, and I know he is too. I was very close to my Father, nothing could ever take the place of that bond.

Best wishes to you both------
Steve

Glenn,

My dad had the same aortic aneurysm repair in 1998. Full recovery. He's still going strong, still smoking (that's another story) and still around.

Hope all goes well for him.

Ron

Glenn, Ken's dad just had a stent placed in a very large aortic aneurysm and has come though with flying colors. Apparently the recovery and sucess are very good with this procedure. Hopefully the cancer hasbeen detected early and all was removed. Ken just went thought a colon surgery and is still recovering. A suggestion, I have Ken drinking a Dannon product called "Danactive"..you can find it in the dairy section of the grocery. Dannon has a website that you can Google and find. They claim that the benefits include improving the immune system by introducing pro-biotics to the colon (where the immune system originates). They taste nice and we both feel pretty good after 2 months of daily use. Not expensive either (look for the coupon in the carton of 4)

Thanks to all for the notes.

I figured he'd be moved to a room this morning. Called the hospital a few mins ago, they said he's still in ICU. Talked to my mother, she said ICU "business" is slow so the doc opted to keep him there for another day. She said he was reading the newspaper, and getting frustrated at having to stay in there. He's antsy about furniture refinishing projects that are waiting. :-)

Hi Glenn,

Greetings Glenn, The PRAYER WARRIORS will be working overtime on your father's condition. A speedy recovery is on it's way!!! Mark

Glenn, glad to hear things seem to be going well. My father spent two weeks in ICU last summer and it is not a fun place to stay or visit. My first reaction was, this must be what hell is like, but the entire ICU staff was so wonderful--angels, truly, that I realized it couldn't be hell. But it certainly isn't heaven either. It's a great place to get out of, and I'm praying for your dad's speedy release from ICU and the hospital altogether.
T.
