Off to the Ovens
After baking the first two pans of cookies I knew something was amiss. Sure enough I forgot to double the eggs. I dumped both double batches back into the Pro620 and added 4 eggs. Knowing it was asking too much and not wanting to strip any gears, I started the machine with the bowl in the lowered position and then slowly raised it up. No difference in the first screwed up batch. 3 Pans of corrected dough into the oven.

My 2 cents!
My poor silver surfer suffered from projectile vomiting because he didn't have his special metal bowl splash guard. It wasn't the surfer's fault..........he was handicapped without it.
A towel tent over the machine would have helped, because the surfer goes from 0 to light speed in a second, rolling out ingredients like a tank.
There is a metal food chute that clips onto the bowl that helps with adding ingredients into the narrow bowl.
Good job Kelly! I shall continue to monitor your efforts.

This ultra luxurious copper and brass bowl [made in France]. I was ready to mortgage the house for this discontinued rare baby!
You can find this cute little copper bowl inserts. Even these are getting pricy now.
And there are various little colander and sieve sets that utilize the narrow bowl -- not the wide new one!

My Mentor, My Love, My Friend
The G belongs to my good friend known to you as Leolady. Leo has the largest collection of Kitchenaid mixers and attachments of anyone I know. She has gifted, loaned and lost more appliances than most of us together will ever have. Leo and I met at the Kitchenaid forum and fate has blessed me with the opportunity to visit her home in the Midwest many times. I have met most of her extended family and toured her home town and the surrounding countryside. The model G belongs to her and I brought it back with me last summer to put on a new cord. Just recently Leo sent the attachments so I could get to know it better. The tests I have done so far are not really fair to the G since I am pitting the Silversurfer against different technologies and capacities. I have grown so used to turning the mixer on and off with the same switch that controls speed. What you didn't see was the kitchen after I turned the Silver Surfer on to mix dry ingredients when it was still in second gear. I had flour and oatmeal in my ears and on my socks. It went everwhere. I learned quickly to be careful and check the gear before starting the motor. The model G is almost silent and I will have fun playing with it more. Just wait until you see the pastry knife and the job it does with pastry and biscuits. Some parts of it's function are a bit less ergonomic, especially the bowl lift mechanism. The model G simply stops when the load gets too heavy. If the mixer was left unattended there is a breaker in the on/off switch that would turn off the power. The Pro620 has so much torque that when it's overburdened it shears the gears, hence some of the bad press you read on line. The Pro series is truly a piece of power equipment that should not be in the hands of untrained operators. I'll continue the testing with single recipes which is so much more likely what many of you would do. If you want my honest gut feel, I really find the tilt head Ultra Power or Classic my favorite Kitchenaid. They're quiet, mix well and are easy to use, store and clean. More to follow. I took all the cookies to two doctors offices today where I had appointments. However those first 24 cookies without the correct amount of eggs are like rock and I have managed to "crush" and swallow 5 of them. Its time to toss them off the balcony before they land on my belly for good. I love you, Loelady.

the BAD copper bowl made in France and sold for Bridgeware Corp. A quality heavy copper with brass trim made for the fluffiest egg whites ever.
It looks and works fantastic on the Silver Surfer and his almost identical twin Dr. Spice Funkenstein.

She has them all and is working on a book that chronicals the evolution of an American Icon. This is much more fun than watching the Game Show Network and eating Shredded Wheat. I love you Marilyn and I treasure the moments we share. You my dear, are an amazing Lady. For those who don't know her she looks like she could be the daughter of Edna Lewis.
