Phantom Cyclone XT

One of my friends had a Phantom Cyclone XT in their basement. I don't think they were using it... If you want I can find out some more info if you are interested?

Not to be rude or anything, but why on earth would someone want a Phantom Fury? We had one for a few years. It was like driving a truck around the house. Noiser than hell, leaked dust like there was no tomorrow. The best thing we ever used it for was for a trade in on our Miele.
I do realize it may have some collectors value, but I have never seen anyone ever ask for one!

your not being rude. actually I am glad that you asked that. I want a fantom because I had one a few years back it was a great machine I found it on garbage day and it worked like it was brand new the only thing wrong was it had a clog. this was no problem I un clogged the machine and it was one of the greatest ones that I have owned. about 2 months after I had it it seemed to catch fire in my living room and that is when I had to part with it. I would have rebuilt it but had no time

Yes, ours clogged up in the handle lint trap quite easily with the dog hair we have around here.
That's one thing ours never did to, catch on fire! I'm glad it didn't burn your house down!
Since you have had one already don't you find it difficult to use? When we finished vacumming with ours we felt as if we had been pushing a 40lb weight around the house all day. That sucker took some considerable strength to move around!

they have a lot of power and no i did not find it difficult to use at all. the reason to y urs was heavy to push was because either the belt was broken or it is too powerfull

if you can't get hold of a Fantom, go get a Hoover "Windtunnel + Cyclonic" vacuum. They're at Kohl's and other stores. 180bucks.
I have it's sister, the Hoover Mach 5 and it's fantastic.

Having that true dual cyclonic separation with the Windtunnel nozzle can't be beat.

electroluxxxx

Was yours a thunder or fury, I had a thunder and liked it,mine was a garbage find,it just needed a belt,I liked being able to empty the container, and there was no filter to clean, Then along came a Kirby G4,a Windsor Sensor, and an Electrolux upright,so the Thunder was sold, wished I had kept it now, I have a fury down in the garage,it runs but I can't locate the clog, I think the Thunder is a better machine. The belt wasn't broken on the Fury, it seemed that when pushing it along it had some kind of resistance built in. It would do this even if the machine was off. We had it in to a vac repair place and they said nothing was wrong with it, but that if anything ever did go wrong good luck as parts were no longer available.

"I have it's sister, the Hoover Mach 5 and it's fantastic."

So do I, John, and I can't get over what a good upright it is.

I am SO glad I didn't waste money on the Dyson, but I have to say I'm impressed with the new LG-made Kenmore Premalite, which is also more expensive then the Hoover but might have been more convenient to maneuver.

Luxx, I had the Fury for a while too, and my experience was sort of halfway between yours and Whirlcool's. It did have power and was convenient (remember, bagless was a new deal back then), but it WAS harder to push than it really should have been, and be mindful of the fact that the Fantom's filters were designed to be replaced, and they have become harder to locate and more expensive.

My friend had a Thunder and IMHO, that machine was the far better performer of the two, but it was somewhat more bulky and heavier.

I actually still have my Fantom Lightning canister and that was my favorite bagless canister until I got a Kenmore Iridium, which I think is the best canister vac I've ever used (I'm not sure if it is still available, though).

IMHO, avoid the Fantom Cyclone or any of the later models.

Happy Hunting! :)

Whatever happened to Fantom?

I remember the Fury and the Thunder, and a canister that looked really interesting. My synagogue had an upright, I don't recall if it was the Fury or the Thunder but I think the rear wheels swiveled. I remember thinking it was stupid to have to empty the cup after each use, which was always so messy. I was used to my Electro Hygiene upright (Royal) and although the Fantom was a respectable cleaner, the Electro Hygiene did just as good a job with a lot less fuss. Also, the Fantom had a lot of plastic, which broke. By the end of its short life, the Fantom was down to 2 wheels. The Fantom was replaced by a used Kirby Omega.

Fantom seemed to be very well advertised and very popular machines, then they just disappeared. Are they still in business, were they bought out, or did they just cease to be? What happened to them, and if they're gone, what was the cause? The Fantoms were the 1st vacs I saw where you can see the dirt, now they all are that way. I think I'll go dig out my Electrolux Super J and vacuum in a simpler, quieter, and more innocent time.

So many questions,
Dave

Fantom had declared bankrupcey and was shut down but now some cheap s*$t company Euro pro took over and fantom gave them the right to use their name and logo I think
othis is what I was told
