Christmas Memories

For me growing up I had "Christmas with the Chipmunks Vol. 1 & 2"
Couldn't get enough of David Seville yelling at Alvin during "The Chipmunk Song"!

Of course there's Gene Autry's "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" album.

Also loved Jesse Crawford's "Organ & Chimes for Christmas" - still have that original vinyl LP.

On the Diplomat label I still have this "Christmas Sing-A-Long" album that I've had since I was a kid.

For the newer stuff Cyndi Lauper's "Christmas Conga" is excellent! Enya's & Stevie Nick's versions of "Silent Night" are great too. Eurythmics "Winter Wonderland" from "A Very Special Christmas" is a treat too.

I was intrigued by the topic and have to add my favorite Christmas recording: Julie Andrews's rendition of "Sleigh Ride" from her "Sounds of Christmas" album done for Hallmark in the early 1990s. It's four minutes and eleven seconds long, and I love every second of it. She hits a note near the end that gives me goose bumps just about every time I listen to it. I never tire of it, either. I live on the central coast of California where the climate is temperate. Sometimes I'll put this on the outdoor speakers while I'm watering plants. It's magical.

Very Classic

My favorite Album has to be Christmas Is...By Percy Faith
We had this LP growing up and played it every Christmas until it was so scratched up. Just purchased it several years ago on CD. Just bring back so many memories.

Hmmm....

We have a Christmas tree picture thread and a cute pet picture thread.

Maybe we should take a few snaps of these albums and post 'em? Just a thought.

My picks

I grew up with Sing Along with Mitch Miller and the Ray Conniff Christmas Albums. Also on my list are the Supremes Christmas album and The Phil Spector album. I just LOVE Darlene Love!!!

Favorite songs are The Little Drummer Boy and O Holy Night. Any rendition.

As I'm typing this, I'm listening to a 3 record boxed set from Columbia House copyright 1972 with various artists such as Mantovani, Burl Ives, Joan Sutherland, Percy Faith, Bert Kaempfert, The Ray Conniff Singers etc. I'm listening to it on my Zenith Portable Stereophonic Phonograph, Model B553W. Can any of our stereo afficianados tell me the age of this unit? I'm guessing late 60's-early 70's.

Julie Andrews Firestone Album

Count me in for the Julie Andrews Firestone album. Pink bow on the front.
Gonna decorate the tree today. Julie and my trusty VM will soon sit beside it merrily bringing smiles to a person's face as it has reliably for 50 years...
You know the record - it starts like this...
Joy to the..
Joy to the..
Joy to the..
Joy to the..
Joy to the..
Joy to the..
JOY TO THE WORLD!

My favourites for Xmas

I have a tape called "Christmas memories"and it has first class singers and carols ,such as,
1.When a child is born by Brooke Benton(absolutley love it).
2.What child is this by Mahalia Jackson.
3.Silver Bells by Rosemary Clooney.
And lots of others I also have a more upbeat cd called "Favourites for Christmas, it contains,
1.Snoopy's Christmas.
2.Mary's boy child by Boney M.
3.A very touching rendition of Silver Bells by Atlantic Starr.
4.White Christmas by Bing Crosby(unforgettable).
And a hot of others as well.
On the whole my favourite Christmas carol is Silver Bells.
Cheers.
Steve.

Without a doubt, my all time favorites are...

Johnny Mathis's album Merry Christmas and Nat "King" Cole's album The Christmas Song. You can get them on Amazon.com for $8.99 and $9.99 respectively.

And Terry, great minds think alike. I'm an avid Amazon.com fan. I also just purchased Josh Groban's new album Noel. You're right. He's right up there with my two favorite male singers.
