But I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout-out to a truly extreme control panel, that rare bird (has anyone seen one in the flesh?), the shamelessly over-the-top cantilevered Hotpoint Custom Crest Touch Command of 1961 (a great year, IMHO, for automatic washers):
I guess this applies to Whirlpools too, but I just love the squared-off 'control box' with the lighted panel on the side of the Inglis washer. Sigh, this was taken in '08 when I just got the Inglis Sterling set...
GREAT thread! I don't know if I could pick a favorite. Love the ones that light up, and that Philco! The Kelvinator! All of these are just amazing, and make me glad that I don't have the space or knowledge to collect them, because I'd have to have them all
How much craftmanship and care went into manufacturing and building of machines back then ? Sigh...
Thank Goodness for AW.Org and all of our wonderful members that have saved this piece of history. It hard to hang onto every machine but it sure is alot of fun trying.
