Not much discerning on carbonated products.  Fresca or ginger ale, diet root beer is nice, doesn't so much have the diet 'tang' to it.  Mr. Pibb.  Sprite.  Sometimes Dr Pepper or Diet (but they seem to go flat quickly).  HEB has seasonal flavor offerings (with sugar, not HFCS), Apple Crisp is a favorite.  But have been avoiding carbonation for some months.  Water with the flavoring liquids.

Favorite iced tea is 2 family-size "regular" tea bags + 2 or 3 Earl Grey to make a gallon.

Delaware Punch

funktionalart - remember when you used to be able to get Delaware Punch in those little bottles of concentrate and mix your own? We kids used to use that to pour over homemade 'sno cones'.

johnrk: YES! We did the same thing way back when. I also remember putting it on coconut cake or vanilla ice cream (in a big glass mug) with 7-up added to make a "float".
I miss that flavour. The last Delaware Punch I bought was in Monterey, CA at a Lucky's supermarket. 6 packs of 12 oz glass bottles. Must have been around 1986 or 87. Have not seen it ANYWHERE since. I'm sure it could be had online (but if I find it, I'd go broke buying it). Would just be happy to find it in a supermarket again. May just be an east coast availability by now...

I used to love Delaware Punch too. Until I was about 10 I hated any soft drink with carbonation. So Birelys Orange and Delaware Punch were my favorites. I would drink Root Beer, Squirt and Nehi too, even though they were carbonated, but no Coke or Pepsi. Then in the summer of 1961 our car broke down in Chico, Calif. on a really hot day and the only thing cold that my Dad could lay his hands on was Coca Cola out of the service station machine. So I learned to drink it and like it. But oh, how I loved Delaware Punch! Hawaiian Punch is a close second, and I used to pour Hawaiian Punch syrup on ice cream and cake too, just like Allen, it's delicious! I even made a birthday cake for my godson once with Hawaiian Punch in both the cake and the frosting.

Dislike of carbonation: I've been drinking Coke products since my sister used to pour some into my sippy cup, so I don't even notice it anymore, but super-chilled Coke really does produce a burning sensation in the throat.

If I'd never had it before and someone said, "Here; try this" I'd think they had given me poison to drink!

Bottled Water

You know what gets to me? Seeing people going through the grocery store with dozens of bottles of water in their carts. Now, I love Perrier, I love Penafiel and a couple of others, but these guys are buying just regular old Dasani or similar stuff! I guess I just don't have that kind of money to blow. Now, I haven't drunk tap water or cooked with it for nearly as long as I can remember. Our local tap water isn't bad but where I really notice the flavor is in either coffee or tea.

I bought a Berkey (Berkfield) countertop filter system long enough ago that I can't remember. Living alone, I use the travel model that only holds about a gallon and a half. I used to own a countertop distiller but it was a pain in the butt to maintain and with my travel schedule I finally gave up. The Berkey uses no power, is quick, is efficient and the black Berkey filters are cleaned and reused. Never a problem with it, and I can't imagine how much I've saved. I wanted/want power-free function because if necessary, I can take water out of the creek flowing through my back yard and filter and drink it. So why do people buy drinking water for their homes?

It breaks my heart to see the people in Puerto Rico without drinking water and receiving so little help. I truly don't understand why we are not distributing those drinking/filter straws at least that enable anyone to drink healthy water. I keep a few for camping emergencies.

For me--Pepsi,and Canada Dry Ginger ale-fruit smoothies-homemade is best.Bottled water-Most pointless, silly, and WASTEFUL product made-Tape water is fine and actually BETTER than bottled water in most situations-Who wants water that has been sitting in a plastic bottle for who knows how long and you get the water laced with polymers? No thanks!!Spent bottles-more come from bottled water than any other bottled drinks.

I have a carbon filter under my kitchen sink that has its own little faucet.  My fridge has a filter in it too...but the fridge water line comes off the sink filter...so the fridge water is filtered twice.  I love my water here, but once in a while I just want some Evian water.

I don't know what there is about Vernors--and surprisingly Pepsi Cinnamon Fire!

As much as I like--LOVE--both of those kinds of pop, unless I drink them through a straw, the carbonation of 'em just makes me GAG... (I cough like Mad...)
