I thought it might be interesting to see if anyone else has a vacuum cleaner accessory they find to be better than most. My favorite accessory came with my old Eureka canister that I purchased refurbished in the 1970s.

It is now reserved for auto interior cleanup duty, and still works great although it looks pretty worn.

My favorite accessory is this brush attachment. The brush part is horsehair, I think, which is excellent for use on the dash and doors. It is stiff enough that it really gets into the crevices well, like around the radio and air vents, but it is soft enough that it doesn't scratch anything.

Further, the body is rubber, which also doesn't scratch if it rubs up against a plastic part.

I'd love to have several of these brush attachments if I could find them, but all of the new ones seem to be made of hard plastic bodies with hard plastic bristles.

I too, like the dust brush as a favorite-wether at home or at the transmitter-At the transmitter-next is a LONG crevice tool.Horsehair is the best for ANY vacuum brush-the nylon-plastic bristles wear and scratch. For the Kirby-another favorite tool-the carpet nozzle.Surprized this isn't on the "Vacuumland" site.

1. Miele turbo brush (for stairs, upholstery, etc.).

2. Miele micro set (has three miniature crevice tools and two miniature brushes.

3. Dryer lint trap curved suction tool, bought the other day from Crucial Vacuum. It's flexible enough to reach where other tools don't, but rigid enough that it doesn't close flat on itself when in use. This was a generic.

4. Miele universal multi-angle cleaning brush: great for dusting wide areas that are often out of reach: tops of bookcases and cabinets, ceiling fans, etc. Also a nice dusting tool for hand-held operation because of its wide swath.

Other than #4, I bought the other three attachments at BestVacuum.com

When doing a major renovation in a rental unit, a friend lent me a sander that worked like one of those non motorized Miele turbo brushs. Slipped right on the end of the hose. It vibrated nicely like a palm sander and worked well on sanding new sheetrock, plus it sucked up the dust into an old Kenmore. Only problem was that it filled 2 vac bags per room.

I like that Miele angled brush. I could certainly use one in this house since we have those 8' height open walls dividing the kitchen/l.r./ d.r. as it is now I have to stand on a chair and make the best of it. I'm sure they'll want half the price of new vac just to buy it separate though :0

I like the idea of that AEG tool, as it is always difficult vacuuming the outside corner where the carpeted stair step and riser meet. That tool looks like it would do the trick nicely.

Hubby uses a Swiffer on our ceiling fans, but that Miele multi-angle brush would be a tidier solution, as the Swiffer always pushes some of the dust off the fan blades and to the floor.

I like that AEG Nimble as well.

Miele accessories are never cheap, and never discounted. But I think of it as an investment. Someday my Miele cannister will die, but I'll be able to use the accessories on a new Miele replacement.
