funny you shoud ask

I was thinking along favoriate ads when I looked at the POD for 12/19/06. I remember as a child watching on TV the women taking the drain hose out from behind the washer and catch the rise water in a glass. I sorta thought it was a measuring cup..but them I'm thinking I may have it confussed with the one for Crisco....fry french fries in 2 cups of oil..it all comes back except one teaspoon....yeah right!!! did we really belive that stuff...I digress....my mother belived in Dash..no Tide or Cheer in our home laundry...I always wated to pull the drain hose out and see if the rinse water was so clear you could drink it....naturally my Mother said no...I dont think she ever recovered from the time I pushed the littled red button on the front of the Westinghouse FL while it was in a wash cycle...she swept water out the back door for at least and hour. Anyway the POD brought back a good memory. Hope every one is having a wonderful Christmas season.

Mine was the Fab commercial that Robert posted on the site a couple years ago. It featured a whole room full of vintage automatics from the mid-50's. "Use Fab in your washing machine" was the theme of course. And the pretty young girl that sang the jingle named all the machines off by brand name as she walked by them.

"No matter what brand, no matter what name, the recomendation remains the same" "Use Fab in your washing machine"

Oh Robert, could we see that wonderful commercial again please?

viva paper towels

I forced my mother to buy a roll of Viva paper towels once...she agreed so she could prove one cannot belive everything they see on TV. The commercial showed a hand holding a Viva paper towel over an broken egg....the egg was sucked up into the paper towel without the towel even touching the egg...just held over the mess. Does anyone know what year the Truth in Advertising Act was passed?

favorite detergent

Tide had so many ads over the years, but the Tide Country ads were some of the best. One took place at a county fair and showed a kid on a BMX bike crashing into the mud, kids wrestling pigs, and I think a pie eating contest. There was also a Tide country ad at a wedding and another at a muddy football game.

Just watched it....

I just watched the Calgon "Ancient Chinese Secret" commercial. They use a modified GE Filter Flo but the agitation seems slower and there is no flow or filter on the agitator. Love it!!

Dash ad

it was one of my favorite too there were 2 one was "Dash Gets the most out of the big machines" and "Dash makes your washer clean like its 10 feet tall"
Does anyone remember the spoof Carol Burnett did on Dash when she put a cup in the washer and it went thru the roof?

Not a detergent, technically....

but does anyone remember the 90s infomercials for the spot remover "Di-Di Seven", with the Richard Simmons wannabe screaming at the audience:

"Do you think we can reuse this water?"
"Do you think we can reuse it?"

<audience goes into hysterics>

"OKAY!! WE'LL REUSE IT!!"

Riot!

Di-Di seven... When i was a little kid i watched those stupid infomercials all the time... Esp. when i would go out into the den @ 2:30 a, when i couldn't sleep...

I liked watching the Whirlpool or Maytag dishwasher commericals..

Also liked watching the Fresh Start Commercial and Dash Commercial

I have a couple of favorites..

back in the 80's, during my teen years, Wisk, in the red bottle and yellow cap was the best heavy duty detergent around!
I remember the popular commercial.."Wisk, gets ring around the collar and your whole wash load clean"! Tisk,Tisk,Tisk...Wisk,Wisk...WISK!

and who can forget Madge, the manicurist for Palmolive dish liquid.
