About the only thing I change is the water level.

Warm wash/Cold rinse

Extra spin

"Energy Saver"--blends in a little more cold water

Slow wash, Fast spin.

What are your settings?

"Inquiring minds want to know!"

Lawrence/Maytagbear

While the cycle/water temperature I use depends on the type of load, I always use fast agitation/spin. Much more water drama, and clothes come out damp-dry. For wash time, I either use the 10 minute setting or the "Normal" setting on the Maytag. The exceptions are delicates and extremely large/heavily soiled loads.

And, if I can do a warm rinse, I select that as well. I believe adjusting the settings is part of the fun!

the Shredmore always has warm/warm (unless towels and "stuff"--hot/warm) and knits/delicate cycle. rare the water level is adjusted around here--ya know, the "Bob" loads.

If were a rich man

my default setting would be...

"Please use cold water and detergent. Nothing else. Ok, great will pick it up tomorrow night. Oh and thank you for folding it all so pretty."

Whites I'd still do myself. That takes technique.

sing it ....I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me...

..but since I am not rich

The water level on my F/L frid-ge-more is not user adjustable.

I do, however, like the ATC "Cold" setting. Works great in winer to assure 70.F water min. [Does anyone know the specifics on how these work?]Added air-chamber type copper water-hammer eliminators with my last plumbing job, since the "hot" opening and closing every 10 seconds was annoying. Works like a charm. No more banging pipes.

oh and I love my new one-lever water valve to shut off both taps.

All this and stainlees-steel braided hoses and we have an A-1 grade install!

Now to get me some platforms. Can't be bending over as much as I used to. (giggle)

for most loads

...it would be warm/warm and depending on what i am washing like heavy denim, it is generally Fast/Fast at about 10 minutes to give those clothes the beating of their life LOL.

Most loads like towels or white clothes get normal/fast treatment.

Power. Start.
(That selects Normal soil level, Warm (115°F) EcoActive wash, Cold (70°F) deep wash, spray rinse, one deep rinse, 1000 RPM spin.)

Add the "Creasables" option when appropriate.
(Increases the water level by one 'notch' and drops the final spin to 300 RPM.)

On the 1-18, it was "Special" -- slow agitate, fast spin, warm wash, warm rinse. This was my default setting, as the 1-18 is so big, I rarely filled it up. Using the slow wash does just fine.

When I had the Lady Kenmore connected, it was Cotton Whites or Cottons Colors -- normal agitate, fast spin, hot or warm wash respectively, warm rinse. Set the Vari-Flex to "medium-hi" so that the fins were even with the skirt.

Warm rinsing is really nice...

We're in the Super forum

Forgot where we are! I can post my Miele settings!

On my Miele 1918, which is currently connected, I most often use the Delicate settings, 140, 120 or 105 degree washing, default 600 final spin. I use this cycle most now because 1) it is "only" 55 minutes in length, and 2) it uses the fast tumbling in the high water level, which is important when using grated Fels soap. If I feel the need to spin stuff out after this cycle, I use the spin only selection at 1200.

Comforter modifications . . . and machine confusion!

I washed a quilt on the Comforter LifeCycle this afternoon. That cycle is pre-programmed with a Warm (115°F) deep wash, High water level, Normal soil level (Medium wash action), two deep rinses (no spin between), and 300 RPM final spin.

I modified it to Medium/High water level, the quilt isn't bulky enough to need High. Left the water temp on Warm, but set the tankless on 105°F.

Had to laugh when the F&P started beeping frantically and advising on the display "HELP I'm not getting any hot water!." It expects the incoming hot supply to be more than 105°F. Fill continued so I ignored it, went back to attack my yard. I usually set the tankless to 115°F which satisfies it and there's no beeping . . so actually, I'd not yet seen it do that.

Comforter pauses after the final drain, before spin, beeps an advisory to push the (bulky) item down and press Start to continue. I came back later, it was still signaling, killed the cycle and reset it for a Medium (670 RPM) spin with Time Saver.

settings

I group my clothes according to:

Cotton colors cold/cold Normal/Fast

Cotton White/Colorfast Hot or Warm/cold Normal/Fast

Synthetics cold/cold slow/slow

Settings modified if care tag calls for something different, or level of dirtiness or stains call for a different treatment.

Wash for full length of cycle, again unless care tag calls for specific time, i.e., electric blankets usually call no more than 4-5 minutes at slow agitation.

Water level set according to load size.

In my 1992 Kenmore MOL, Gain Oringinal Scent, Gain Original Scent Softner, unless specified:

Whites - Hot/Warm, Heavy Duty 14, bleach, 2nd rinse
Dark Heavies - (Jeans, workout clothes, ect.) Warm ATC/Cold, Heavy Duty 10
Dark Slacks - Warm/Cold, Permanent Press 10(Cheer Dark Det)
Other Darks - Cold ATC/Cold, Normal 10 (Cheer Dark)
Light Colors - Cold ATC/Cold, Normal 10
Delicates - Cold/Cold, Normal 6, Woolite
Towels - Warm ATC/Cold, Heavy Duty 10

All loads get Automatic Cycle on the matching dryer with the Medium heat setting, except Dark Heavies, and Towels, they get High.

gentle action setting

Now that favorite washer settings have been brought up....I have a TOL Lady Kenmore washer, is there anyway to easily fix a toggle switch on it to be able to switch to gentle wash action? It only agitates gently on the delicate cycle. For the laundry I have, I would like to use a gentle wash action and still be able to use the longer cycles ? Anyone have any suggestions ? EASY is the keyword here.

long, gentle action....

I heard "Toggleswitch" and "Easy".. so here I am at your service! LOL.

Serioiusly, If I can be of assistance, please feel free to conact me [email protected]

I will probably need a wiring diagram or at least a wire count of what is going into the motor.

Also will need to know which color is "normal" and which "gentle." oh and start windings. You'll have to fill me in, I havn't had my head in LK washer in a few years.

Good luck, and please don't hesitate.

(All viscious rumors and gossip that preceed me may be safely ignored. LOL)

more is not necessarily better.

..and remember the rule of thumb is one minute of washing per pound of laundry.

More than 15 minutes max. and you risk having the detergent's ability to hold soil in suspension challenged, resulting in a dirty dingy yellow/gray wash from soil redeposited from armpits and inseam areas to everywhere!

Much safer to do a prewash first. Then drawing out the cycle's wash time is less risky!

.. of course simply cutting the two "speed" wires and reversing the gentle and normal wash action is an option.

(or if slip-on terminals with crimp connecitons, even easier.)

But think it out, you may get some strange/undeisreable speed combinations.

Paxil and Lithium for everyone!

oh and no, Toggleswitch is not easily "fixed" many have tried.

LOL LOL LOL

ME ME ME! LOL

Mars Moon, neptune and ascendant in Scorpio make me slightly "magnetic" [either attractive or repulsive to others, no middle ground] and MAYBE JUST A BIT FIXED in my way of thinking. (Read: stubborn mule)

Luckily there is plenty of Virgo in there to keep it all from getting evil. LOL

LOL LOL LOL
