decided to try out one of these-G63 size-almost as big as a basketball,2000K,300 lumen.Double helix LED "filaments"a tiny PC board can be seen in the base, but these have a noticeable 120 HZ flicker. Not bright enough for real lighting, but good for decoration or mood lighting :) will see tonight how it does.

its in a 1984 Hunter"original"ceiling fan-fan had no light kit when I got it,so installed single light socket.Feit bulb rated'60w equivalent, but a standard 60w bulb casts much more light...if I get tired of it in the fan, could be built into a neat lamp-using the feit bulb for dim mode :)

LED programmable mood lightning seems to be quickly advancing.  I can get the appeal of it, when I was a kid in the 80s I loved stopping at Spencer's at the mall just to look at all the black lights and posters, strobe lights, fiber optic lights, etc.

I've been looking for that.  There's a large (custom-made?) strip fixture at the theater entrance/boxoffice with a crapload (72!) of those globe bulbs, operates from dusk to closing every day.  It's exposed to weather (and there's a long-time leak through the roof at one end of the fixture that apparently can't be traced for fixing) so the bulbs must be weatherproof and these don't explicitly state so.  Not to mention the cost would be outrageous for the quantity needed plus a few spares.
