final thoughts on POR 15

Hi Everyone
I am restoring a 1998 WP washer even going to repaint the cabinet a different color. I wanted to know about using POR 15 on the spin basket. i want to coat the bottom and the inner tube with POR 15. I have been reading all the past thread about POR 15 and just wanted to get peoples final thoughts on using it and does it really hold up Under Water???

And if i should just re coat it with out sanding. I don't want to take off the factor coating just want to preserve it for many more years to come.

POR is an acronym for Paint Over Rust.  It needs the chemical reaction of the paint on rusty metal to adhere properly.  It will bond well to bare metal, I've used it on a washer tub that I had sand-blasted with no trouble, but it will not bond well to intact porcelain.

Very strong. I always wear a cartridge type respirator and disposable gloves. And work with it outside. It contains isocyanates so minimize breathing it and getting on your skin as much as possible.

If you get it on your skin it will stay there for many weeks. I’ve used it many times under my old car with great results. As with any paint, preparation is key.

POR15 Durability

Has anyone who has treated an outer tub, centerpost, etc. with POR15 done a follow-up disassembly to check how it holds up over time? I did a break-down on a direct-drive unit on which I treated the centerpost and base pedestal five years ago. I found that the POR flaked, loosened, and peels...
