I have a few rust spots on the outside of my washer tub and some rust wear the rubber hoses go into the three spout's on the metal tub.

I know the POR 15 is suppose to be really good. But I came across this product Rust Bullet and went to there website and they compare there product with POR 15.

The Rust Bullet is suppose to be less prep work and it does not require a Top Coat like POR 15 does. The POR 15 Rust Preventive is sensitive to UV light and it will eventually break down if you don't apply the Top Coat over there Rust Preventive. That is what POR 15 say's when they are explaining there product on You Tube.

In my case I could use the POR 15 Rust Preventive without there Top Coat spray paint because I am only using it on the metal washer tub, because the tub will not be exposed to UV light.

After reading all the details on Rust Bullet website,it sounds like a better Rust Preventive to me.I am leaning towards using this product on my tub.

I was just curious is someone might have used both products, and recommend's one over the other.

I've had good luck using POR-15 without a top coat on rusted areas of tubs, or areas where the porcelain was etched already from use. It will eventually flake off any non rusted or smooth porcelain surface that it is applied to, but I consider this to be harmless. I almost always use it exclusively on outer tubs and rarely apply it to a wash tub, thus the limited exposure to UV.

Doesn't hurt to try a new product! Give it a shot and report back.

I Ended Up Buying Rust-oleum Rust Reformer

Thank's for the information on the POR-15,it's good to hear you had no issue's with the POR-15.I know it's suppose to be a good product.

Ben I found out the Rust Bullet does not go on smooth like the POR-15,it will leave brush marks in the tub when it's finished. So I was going to get the small 4 oz. kit of POR-15,then I figured I would have to sand down the area around the few 1/2 inch spot's of rust to get the POR-15 to stick to the outer metal drum.

So I ended up getting the Rust-oleum Rust Reformer spray paint.I am going to sand the small area, they say clean it with a light dish soap and water and let it dry. Then I am just going to put painters tape around the rusted areas, and just paint the rust spots.

Then you have to wait 24 hrs. before you put the Top Coat of paint over the Rust Reformer.

Watched some videos testing and comparing rust cover products and the Rust-oleum Rust Remover works better when you put a Top Coat over the Rust Reformer.
