Yes, I have been a slacker... I have had this wringer for over 7 years and hadn't used it. It finally fought its way to the front of the garage on Saturday to catch my attention.

Wringing was always the part that my late mother hated about her old Whirlpool... The wringer rollers are still good on this machine - the clothes were still less soaked that they would be in the GE Combo in its current state!

I did a 'custom rinse' for the towels. I put a load into the washer, filled the tub and let iet agitate for a few minutes. I then partially drained the machine while running fresh water into the tub. I added fabric softener at that point, then let the machine run a few more minutes. I then wrung the towels. It seemed to work fine!

And finally, to the 'solar dryer'! LOL
I didn't dry them all the way on the line, though. While the towels were still damp, I threw them into the Inglis dryer for about 15 minutes to fluff them up and dry them thoroughly. It worked well!
The downside is that this whole operation took me over 2 hours... Can't wait to get the Inglis automatic back up and running... Or until I get the GE Combo drying too... Stay tuned...

Is the agitator cap original? Looks like WP/KM.

Six vanes and fairly significant all the way down to the edge of the skirt. Bet this machine could really whip up some lint! Hope they recommend a relatively short washing time.

Very, very cool machine!

Delicious

The slow gentle arc, the delicious slurp of the water and the lazy synchronized dance of the towels has me mesmerized. Oh Oh, what were we talking about?

Wow!

What a neat washer! Cant believe that baby is from 68! My mom looked over and I had to ask her how old she thought that was and she said 40s!

Seems to work beautifully too!

I spy a hoover (maybe a spirit or futura). :)

- I thought it was a replacement, too, but I found another washer just like this with the black cap!

- Um, it was in YOUR basement for nearly a year - Hubby would have glady let you keep it you know... LOL
