Hey folks -

Finally, a refrigerator has landed at the house, which has completed all the requirements for a complete vintage kitchen! After doing the weekend cruise of the local appliance shops - I spied this fun looking Hotpoint Friday night. I took a quick look at it, and realized that it is almost identical to Cory's turquoise Hotpoint, and it appeared to be in pretty good shape! Got it back to the house last night, and today did a quick cleansing to get the fun fridge funk out, and wired up a new cord an presto - this 1964 Hottie is be back in service! I can finally enjoy a nice cold beer after a hard day of work on the house now - ah, refreshing!

Take a look ~

Chilling out - waiting for some cold ones ~

And somehow I got this in the house by myself. Hopefully tomorrow I can throw some beverages and such inside for a refreshing break later on! Oh yeah, it will also store foodstuff as well.

Sssswwweeeeeetttt!!!!!

Great find.

In college, my roommate worked for Coors Beer distributing. He had access to all the outdated beer he wanted. He filled up our fridge to the point that I had to ask him to back off so I could fit milk and food in. This was in my 1951 GE, which was avocado green at the time. All of my friends gave me a hard time over that episode (I drank and homebrewed alot in college and it was totally out of character for me to ask for less beer).

Very nice, Ben! And as with most vintage friges your lucky to find one as complete as this. A real classic! :)

Looks great Ben! Bottom freezer is the only way to go. I love the foot pedal ones, and when they used some color in the interiors, like this. Enjoy!

Beautiful refrigerator Ben, I can't wait to see it and pictures of all the rest of the work you have done. Have one of those cold ones for me.!!

Excitement

I think of how innovative and big the fridge was in 1964 and how coveted it would be by all the neighbors. It's good to know it can keep on giving the gift of appliance fun.

Ben, I'm with Scott. If I was shopping for a fun fridge, that bottom freezer with foot pedal door activator would have stopped me in my tracks. I don't think any used appliance dealers in my area would even consider putting a unit that old out on their floor, which is sad considering they perform as well or better than anything you can buy new and are far better built. Congratulations on finding such a complete unit. That fridge is going to not only add beauty and interest to your kitchen but also hum along and keep those beers good and cold for many years to come.
