Wow - what a find. And in gas no less - If I am not mistaken, the 1963 model gas dryers still had standing pilot lights but my memory may be faulty there. Any Philco is a rare, almost impossible find. They just weren't a big name in laundry. Never saw one before moving from NY to Connecticut. Once here, I had two friends whose fathers worked at the local Firestone dealer and that was the main Philco dealer in our area. So their houses were always full of Philco TV, stereos and appliances. Interesting, the refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs and stereos didn't seem to change during the time were friends, but the laundry equipment seemed to change every few years.
Also, I saw a previous post about a neighbor having a set in yellow. I know that in 1963, they were offered in white, copper, turquoise, pink and yellow. However, there were so few Philcos around to begin with, I can't imagine how they produced 5 colors as such a small part of the market. Who, after all, was buying all those? Most people in my area had white laundry appliances since laundry was usually relegated to the basement and in most cases there weren't many matched sets given the "invisibility" of those particular items.
Just my thoughts for the day.
