I started this project a few years ago, but got interrupted by a move from Melbourne to Brisbane (about 2000kms) and then a house renovation.

COVID-19 restrictions gave me some time to focus on finishing the job and I am gald to say that it is done.

I have uploaded a video to YouTube

I would like to extend my thanks to chestermikeUK for the service manual and advice given in the early stages.

You can see my next project sitting in the background in one of the shots.

About the rollers

Thanks Mike.

The bottom roller required a bit of sanding as it showed quite a bit of cracking, the top roller wasn't too bad.

Yep the clothes do get a decent whirl. I guess the tub ratios changed to increase the wash capacity on later models.

I wonder what the rationale was for Hoover reversing the pulsator direction and tub orientation on all the later machines? I would love to have been a fly on the wall in engineering in those days.

Stephen, this video is a work of art. Everything is perfect, even matching the black and white floor colors with the black and white of the machine, and a splash of color in the towel. The irony of cutting edge technique against so ancient a machine is stunning and brilliant. Congratulations. The sound the silver pulsator makes on start up is so futuristic. Everything is dazzling.

That Pulsator

Thanks eurekastar,

When I showed the machine to a 'non-appliance oriented' engineering friend he didn't believe that that little pulsator could move the water. Let alone provide such a vigourous wash action.

It took a demonstration to convince him.
