I knew one would turn up eventually and so it did this morning at a yard sale. I almost walked right on past it in the excitement of spotting a vintage mixer. It looks to fit my vintage sofa perfectly but I really really need to paint the walls in this rek room, the pukey yellow doesn't go at all with the lime green sofa. Anyone got any suggestions what might be a good wall color choice and not white or off-white etc. I need it to be colorful to match my sparkling personality.

No the cuckoo clock isn't staying I just put it there to put it somewhere.. I have plenty of vintagey wall stuff, clocks, paintings

Great Table!

I'd be tempted to have it redone in boomerang Formica, but then again that's just me.

What with the wood finish I can see it on a nice sculptured high-low carpet, preferably facing an RCA, Zenith, Magnavox or Curtis-Mathes TOL console stereo/TV. Just the proper place to take in an exiting episode of Perry Mason, or maybe I Dream of Jeannie!

Anything other than wood paneling and orange shag carpet just wouldn't do that sofa justice. :-)

There's a slightly different boomerang table like that at a local Antique Store. They want $$$$ for it though. The same booth has a set of two tulip chairs with matching side table for $300 firm. There's an awesome black leather MCM sofa, and plenty of 'atomic' or 'Sputnik' clocks.

I love that sofa!

Looks comfyer than my mid-century sectional. I really need a boomerang table for it too - there's just no substitute!

Yay! Congrats on a great find! Sorry I can't help you with the Kenmore - its outside my field of knowledge, but it IS very cool!

Oh, and as for color....

When going vintage, use a vintage palette of colors for decorating.

Submitted for your approval:

Thanks Jim,

Before I became a painter, I started out studying graphic design. Sometimes I'm still called on to teach Photoshop and Illustrator at the college on top of art history (the primary subject I teach).

Oops! forgot shadows!

I thought the floor looked a little goofy in that last one!

Here's your room again with hardwood floors (this time with shadows) and the original wall color, but no chair rail. The wall color isn't bad, it's the chair rail that looks awkward to me.

Sorry the outline on the floor is a little rough - I should have cleaned up my selection a little bit. I do like the gold color I put on your walls first - I think it makes the couch color "pop". Oh, I also re-colored the frame on your mirror to match the wood color of the table better. It's not a perfect match, but here it's in the same color family.

And finally, and the wall-art thingy (this is its actual color) and the clock are both on eBay right now :)

Okay, I'll quit now :)
