Theatre Organ Bliss

You Guys!!!

I had NO idea that there were others out there that LOVE THEATRE ORGANS!

And Ethel Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get up in the middle of the night to YouTube her playing Tico Tico.

When my wife and I visited my friend in Minneapolis, there's this movie theatre that has--I think--the biggest theatre organ east or west of the Mississippi.

It raises out of the orchestra pit by hydraulics and the fella comes out and plays show tunes before every movie.

It has three or four keyboards on it--completely amazing.

And the dude who plays does this version of New York, New York like you wouldn't believe.

I'll ask my friend about the name of the movie theatre--but it's well worth the trip if you ever visit the Twin Cities.

When I went to the mid-West, there were three things I wanted to do:

1) See Robert's basement

2) Go to that movie theatre with the big organ

3) Look at the bridge that collapsed

Highly recommended.

Theatre Organs

Oh yes! There's bunches of us out here that have a love for the theatre organs.... here in Knoxville,Tn we have an original-to-the-theatre Wurlitzer pipe organ in the Tennessee Theatre (tennesseetheatre.com). The console is on a dolly and is rolled out of it's custom built "safe room" on to the orchestra platform which is motorized and it rises up out of the pit as it always did.

Well, we've turned this post into theatre organ post more than
a washer post - both are "vintage" so I guess we can get away with it for a little bit. And Ethel.... what a grand lady she was - I detest Hammond organs but, she did things with it that are incredible to this day and she's about the only one that made a Hammond worth listening to!

....but a word of warning.

finish up looking like the picture below!

One and a half years later and what started as owning one Hoover A3350 Electron 1100, has developed to become owning more that 40 washers, dryers and dishwashers and over 70 vacuum cleaners. Plus a miriad of small appliances.

The collecting bug will bite you and, before you know it, you wont be able to help yourself.

But its soooo much fun.
