A big thank you goes out to both Ben and Doug who recently sent me some great new vintage literature to scan for the Ephemera Library. I was completely out of new stuff to add until just recently!

Today's additions:
#1 1954 Whirlpool Home Laundry Appliances Book
#2 1965 Westinghouse Top-Loading Automatic Washer Brochures
#3 The very first Kenmore Dishwasher Owners Manual

How many Westinghouse dryers do you spot?

Thanks for scanning these in, Robert! The 1954 Whirlpool booklet turned out beautiful! Those Imperial model washers and dryers are some of the best looking early Whirlpools made.

Can't say I'd turn down the TOL models from either of the washer brochures. Does anyone have a Westinghouse LAF200 top load washer in their collection? Would love to see one sometime, even if we know they were abysmal machines.

A few years ago I saw a DTF400 dryer, and a slightly later one with push button start, heading for a scrap yard. If either had been the washer I would have grabbed it on the spot.

Thanks Ben! I see 3 Westinghouse dryers in the picture. I thought maybe there was a fourth turned around in the back but I don't think that is a Westinghouse.

I also want to make a correction about the Kenmore dishwasher. I thought it was from the early 50s, however looking in the 1950 and 1952 Sears catalogs I found that the only dishwasher Sears offered was that Homart machine with the round lid. I still think this is the very first "Kenmore" branded dishwasher, however I now think it is a bit later than '52. The next catalog I have the Spring/Summer '56 and this dishwasher is in here. However they say New design vinyl-coated upper rack will hold up to 24 glasses". That upper rack shows a round layout where the upper rack in the owners manual I just posted has a square layout. So I'd have to guess this manual is probably from between 1953 and 1955.

Here is the 1956 Catalog entry:
