I found a Maytag Model A612 today at my local appliance dealer. They sell their good trade ins after inspecting them, offering a 90 warranty on both parts and labor. I had to buy it, couldn't bear to leave it there. Hope to have it in action by Saturday. It is in good condition, with some minor blemishes on the cabinet, but none on the console or in the tub. Anyone want to share their opinion of my find? I plan to replace my '97 Dependable Care with this one. I have never liked the DC, having foolishly bought it to replace an '80 model. Can't wait to see a real PowerFin in action again....no more of that pitiful corkscrew action for me...

chalstead, I have an A612 and I love it. It's quiet and efficient, and I love the intermittent agitate and soak on the soak cycle. Here's a tip for very delicate items: use gentle action, and set the timer for the max on the soak cycle. When the timer gets to the beginning of the regular wash cycle, advance it to 2 minutes and let the cycle complete. I have the matching D512 dryer. It is fabulous, but it's automatic dry control, not electronic dry. If I see an almond DG712, watch out. Good luck with your "new" A612, you'll LOVE it.

it's here!!!!

Delivered today, installed and running well. Looks great next to the matching dryer. Don't know why I ever got rid of the original anyway....

I have always heard that patience is a virtue....pics will come soon. I have to move the other machine completely out of the way before the debut....
